This might be helpful for people! I will start:

Yesterday I had a hunk of hard parmesan cheese and pecans for breakfast and then a salad (lettuce, bits of carrots, red cabbage and no carb Caesar dressing) with lentils, and some white wine in the evening.

Today, so far for breakfast I had a banana and a half in sour cream with a splenda chocolate pudding mixed in. YUM!

For tonite I will probably have the salad and lentils again (i have to finish off the crock pot of lentils I made).

My goal is to have a salad every day. I figure if I can make that a daily goal, then it will hopefully happen at least 4 times a week. wink We will see.

I also want to make sure I eat tuna fish once a week and have eggs twice a week. And to increase my fiber everywhere possible.

Other goals - am at 125 pounds right now - goal is 120 and to stay there.

Okay, my lentils had gone bad, so i had a salad with shredded beef in sloppy joe sauce, black olives, spices and parmesan cheese.

With a light beer.

Late breakfast: Had half a biscuit with honey and half an orange.

Dinner: Spinach/artichoke dip with blue corn chips, strawberries, carrots, celery and grape tomatoes with blue cheese dip, grilled chicken, zucchini and red peppers.

Dessert: small slice of pumpkin cheesecake pie made with lowfat cream cheese and I didn't eat much of the crust.

i drink maybe a 6 pack of 20 ounce bottle's worth of soda every month or two.

I usually drink diet caffeine free sodas other times.

the majority of what I drink is juice, water, and semi-sweet iced tea or lemon/lime aid

Today - breakfast was a small salisbury steak with mushroooms, asparagus and red peppers (weight watches frozen meal) with a hunk of yummy parmesan cheese and some low carb sweet potato chips. I feel very sated.

I have noticed I eat better dinner meals when I actually take the time to plan them ahead, so am thinking what to eat for dinner.

Maybe a scrambled eggs thing with cheese and salsa and red cabbage. I have bagged red cabbage that needs to be eaten and I have been wanting eggs anyway. So i think today will be dinner for breakfast and breakfast for dinner. smile

OK I think we can help out! One of the easiest changes to make in a diet is usually the liquids you drink. Juices are notoriously full of sugars, and depending what semi-sweet things you are drinking, those can be sugary too. Diet sodas are actually shown in many studies to be worse for you than the sugar variety, because of how your body handles them.

Can you try going only for waters, flavored waters and non-caffeine teas for two weeks, as a test?

at work i drink a ton of water, flavored water, and tea. Well at home too.

I drink at least 48 ounces of water or tea a day... minimum. That is besides what I have listed above.

The juices I drink are non-sweetened natural juices. And sometimes when I say juice it's a flavored water with a juice... like a crystal light lemonade mixed with unsweetened fruit juice.

Here's the research I've done on drinking a can of soda a day. It's really not good for you at all!

I did pretty good on my camping trip - had mainly some burgers, a salad with tuna, salad with thin sliced steak, eggs and cheese, an EAS bar, decaf coffee and red wine.

Now am home and had lowcarb cereal for dinner last night and oatmeal for breakfast today.

Update - for dinner had steak slices with cheese, tomatoes, red cabbage and a dab of low carb alfredo sauce. Red wine after.

Welcome idemarco! It's great to have you!

Start here - I have lots of ideas for the different meals! I also explain why you really don't need a "meal planner" with this style of dieting smile

Jilly -

It is great that you're doing well and losing weight on low carb smile It's a good time to start thinking about nutrition in the mix, too! With you eating only a few things each day, each item you eat is really critical in your body's nutrition and health. We want to make sure each thing you consume is full of healthy nutrition for your body to use, to metabolize and build muscle and skin and so on.

Is there another kind of lunch item you would enjoy other than cookies? Those sorts of low carb items, like cookies and pudding, are meant to be extra treats after a healthy meal has been consumed. So we need to make sure that you get those healthy natural items into you first smile

I actually don't eat lunch or snack ever. Today was an incredible anomaly. I am a breakfast/dinner person only.

As for my meals, i usually wait until i am so hungry that i grab something like low carb tortillas with butter for breakfast, or a hunk of cheese with nuts.

I am trying really hard to actually make dinners with real food and salad. So i at least would like recognition for that. It's very tough for me to pay attention to food. If i could have a 'food pill' like in sci fi movies each day I'd just eat that. I have no time or interest in food.

Jilly, good for you for eating a grown-up dinner! So, the Greek yogurt--never had it--what's it like? Did you add the spices or did it come that way? Eat it cold like pudding or what?

And, Kristen & her husband took me out for sushi for dinner. Yum-o!

lunch - tuna with light mayo and celery sandwhich on toasted jewish rye bread (thin sliced.. and I mean THIN), water, water, water, and a handful of pretzels.

dinner - sliced grilled ribeye on whole wheat tortillas, quacamole (home-made - avacados, lime juice, red onion, and grape tomatoes), and spring mix greens with reduced fat low card ranch dressing, cucumber, and radishes. I did cheat and have a can of soda, but I haven't had any caffeine laden soda since our last chat.. so I don't feel "too" guilty. water.

snack - gluten free, low carb "butter bar". Thats a low card gluten free brownie topped with "butter fudge" layer thats not really fudge but something similar made with butter, germented rice syrup and something else to make it like fudge. I got them from my health food store owner (works in same building my spa is in) who made them at home. they don't raise your insulin levels and don't give you sugar rushes since they aren't made with sugar.

Thank you Deb. Working on having a real dinner is about all i can work on food-wise right now. Even if the beef and asparagus was from cans, it's still better than having just cheese, nuts and olives or a food bar for dinner.

The greek yogurt is served cold like normal yogurt but tastes lie a very mild cheese or thick cream. It's the only full-fat yogurt i can find (ie - no added sugar like they put in low fat or non-fat yogurt).

I just sprinkled basil and garlic with pepper on top.

Today's breakfast - oatmeal with parmesan cheese and splenda. Decaf coffee as usual.

yesterday for breakfast i added eggs, cheese, salsa and red cabbage to my leftover beef and asparagus. With another dollop of greek yogurt. Yay - i had veggies and eggs! Real food!

For dinner i had a banana with low carb pudding. I had to eat up the banana - it was on it's last leg.

As long as i have one real meal a day - with veggies - i will be thrilled. It's more than i usually do.

I had two actual meals yesterday!

Breakfast was leftover egg/beef/veggie thing from last night's dinner.

Dinner was canned chicken mashed with mayo, with red cabbage, salsa and cream cheese. Black olives and some hard parm on the side.

Go me! smile As long as I have leftovers I can have at least one real meal.

Breakfast yesterday was fiber cereal with soy milk, splenda and cranberries and parmesan sprinkled in.

Dinner was veggies and almonds and all beef franks with mustard, mayo and ketchup with spices.

Breakfast today was a Fiber One bar with a hunk of parm and some black olives.

Dinner will probably be the leftovers of my veggies and franks.

I just wanted to comment that it's fun to put off food shopping and make a game of trying to eat up the food in the pantry/freezer.

It's too easy to just keep eating the same stuff each day (low carb torts with butter - yum!), but if i am out of them, i am forced to be more creative. (ie - eat those franks that i got months ago and never opened).

breakfast today - i found some low carb bluberry yogurt, and had pumpkin seeds and some wheat tortillas with flax seed butter for breakfast.

Dinner will be salad with chicken.

It is definitely wonderful that you are getting a meal of protein plus salad into you smile That is very important for everybody to do! Salads can be SO tasty if you keep basic salad ingredients in the house.

I like to have bagged lettuce, olives, bacon bits and dressing as my base. Our garden is now creating TONS of mini tomatoes that are SO delicious. I highly recommend that every one of you get a little tomato plant for your window. They are super easy to care for and you get oodles of fresh red tomatoes for FREE. Fully organic too smile

In addition I buy cheap cheddar cheese, shredded, in white and yellow varieties. I mix them together and put them into a ziplock bag. That way I can shake that out over the top - calcium is good for you, and the salad is extra tasty.

It only takes maybe 5 minutes total to make my salad from start to finish and it really is quite tasty!

We should all try to eat a salad every day, they are so good for your body smile

Work is so intense for me; I'm in at 0730 and stay until 5pm most days. I eat at my desk, because getting out and getting food is just so time consuming. So I bring food, and I'm fine with the same thing every day. Here's today's menu:

Breakfast is my big meal. Fat-free plain yogurt, a Tbsp of fruit (fresh blueberries this week) a Tbsp of ground flaxseed, and Kashi GoLean mixed in.

A sandwich baggie of raw broccoli florets for snacking; NO dip.

Spinach salad with tomatoes and chickpeas and Newman's Own Light Balsalmic Vinaigrette.

1 C homemade Hot and Sour soup.

3L of water, plus who knows how much black coffee.

Dinner might be spaghetti or zuchini parmesan, or a turkey sandwich on homemade 4-grain bread.

That sounds great, healthy and balanced Trish!! Good for you!

Spinach is just SO good for you - and so are tomatoes!

I got a pint of blueberries myself this week - normally I don't eat them but they are SO full of antioxidants that I'm trying to get myself to eat more of them ...

Blueberries go down real easy when topped with a scoop of ice cream! Yogurt works, too. I also like them in my oatmeal, tossed into a salad or mixed with sliced peaches.

So far I've been really good about having at least one meal each day being salad/veggies. I am keeping a running salad bowl and adding new stuff to it each day, including chicken, tuna, beans, walnuts, cranberries, cheese and spices, besides the various shredded veggies and leafy greens.

I also found some dissolvable fiber that i add to my coffee and red wine each day. I have some flax seed that i need to grind up too.

I am trying to have at least a little low carb yogurt with each breakfast as well.

That is awesome Jilly! I just ran out of salad fixings today (the main salad bag core of it). I really missed my salad! Bob's still on his shake diet because his tooth gets pulled on Tuesday so I'm sort of on my own.

I'm going to have some yogurt right now. Which is really a good step for me because I used to hate yogurt, and now I actively think about it when I get snackish ...

I do take 2 chewable fiber tablets every day, they're great and orange flavored. I did just run out of my chewable Centrum vitamins, I need to look around to see if I have another container somewhere ...

Okay, lotsa salads for dinners, plus yesterday I tired a Stouffer's frozen spinach souffle. It was pretty good but needs to make nuked for longer than they suggest on the box to taste right. or maybe b/c i live at elevation it needed more time.

Anyway it's high in protein and has 8 net carbs per serving and is tasty. No trans fats. we don't let trans fats in the house.

I am so craving a salad. I did make a tuna fish salad with my fresh cherry tomatoes yesterday, that was great. I want a real green salad though. Hopefully tonight we can get out and get some greens. I had a salmon Healthy Choice frozen dinner last night which was pretty tasty.

Yesterday I had pumpkin seeds for breakfast. Lots of them. I was working and lazy and didn't want to leave my office to get food. I do keep nuts as snacks in my desk.

For dinner I had oatmeal with soy milk and a scoop of my fiber powder for extra fiber action. Besides the fiber, I had parmesan cheese on my oatmeal - quite a bit of it - and sugar free maple syrup. Tasted like a cheese danish.

All in all, an unusual food day. No veggies at all. Will have to remedy that today.

Bob's work-mate gave him a squash from his garden!! Hurrah!! And we are just swamped with little cherry tomatoes from our own garden. Growing a garden is SO great! Free food, non-stop, and then you trade with family and friends for what you aren't growing!

We had a vegetable medley last night with tomatoes and squash, it was very tasty smile And Bob brought home salad stuff today!! Happy happy happy smile

I am behind listing things as i had my sister's family here for four days and that was a whirlwind.

So I will sum up by saying we had tons of fresh salads, BBQ veggies and fresh top meats, and red wine, eggs and cheeses and good times. nothing full of carbs or unhealthy. it was great!

I'm a bit behind myself on my food log.
the Thursday and Friday I didn't really eat much (my stomach was bothering me), but I did stick to low carb and chicken broth.

Yesterday was a weird day cause we had a birthday party for my cousin's 3 years old son (I live with them)so for breakfast I had coffee and for lunch I had 2 slices of cheese. For dinner (party), I am very proud to say that all I ate at the party was raw veggies with some ranch dressing, chicken salad, and 1 slice of deli meet. I stuck to diet soda and did not touch the high sugar, packed carbs foods.

Today I ate:
Breakfast: eggs and sausage
Lunch: chicken salad
Dinner: beef on the grill.

and TONS of water.

Have an amazing week everybody smile

Ori

Hi, Everyone - Here's my recipe for brownies (adapted from The Low-Carb CookwoRx Cookbook":

Chewy Fudge Brownies

Spray 8x8-inch glass pan with Pam
Preheat oven to 350 degrees

Ingredients:

1 stick butter
2 oz. unsweetened baking chocolate, chopped. (I use high-quality chocolate.)
1 c. Splenda
2 eggs
1/2 t. vanilla extract
1/2 c. almond flour

In a small, glass bowl, melt the butter in the microwave. Cover to prevent splatters.

In a medium saucepan, bring a few inches of water to a boil, then reduce to a simmer. On top of the pot place a small bowl, creating a double boiler. Add the melted butter and chopped chocolate to the top of the double boiler. After the chocolate melts, remove from heat.

Add the Splenda, stir til mixed.

Beat in eggs one at a time, then beat in vanilla. (The original recipe calls for a dash of salt but I don't use any.)

Gently stir in almond flour.

Pour into prepared pan. Bake 20-25 minutes, or until just set.
(In my oven, 20 minutes is long enough.)

Cool on a rack for 10-15 minutes. Cut into squares. Store covered at room temperature or freeze.

------------
Here's what I ate yesterday:

coffee
3 egg whites, 1 t. olive oil
soy latte
1/2 c. tuna, mayo and lemon juice
3 oz. no-sugar-added candy
diet, caffeine-free soda
1/4 c. hummus, 1/4 c. celery
small glass white wine
1 c. salad - chicken, Swiss cheese, tomato, Parmesan cheese, lettuce, dab of Ceasar dressing

Almond flour! What a great idea. So the brownies are protein packed too! smile

Today - bad me, i had sugar free chocolate with pumpkin seeds, walnuts and pistachios this morning. With decaf. The nuts are good but you'd think i could have found something more nutritious than low carb chocolate for breakkie. smile

Dinner will be eggs with cheese and salsa and a side salad.

yesterday -

Bfast - 2 low carb pudding cups with a banana, decaf
Dinner - Steel cut oatmeal with whole milk, sugar free maple syrup and parmesan cheese. Red wine for dessert.

Okay, not the healthiest day - no veggies. But i did get in a piece of fruit, so not a total loss. I also did 2 hours on my twist board, took vitamins and of course hydrated.

Today will be -

banana with sour cream and parmesan cheese with splenda. Decaf.
Dinner - mixed salad with turkey sausage, walnuts and cranberries.

For the past two weeks while my wisdom tooth was healing I was eating "soft food" which included pirogies and ravioli smile So I went down to 126 right after the tooth was pulled - and then back up to 131 on my pirogie diet smile

I am back down at 129, and now that I'm healing I'm eating more healthy food again smile

Rosie,
I'm sorry to hear about your hard times, please hang in there and know that first you asre taking care of your breathing then comes the food issue...keep writing.
Thinking of you and wishing you good health smile

I haven't been around for a few weeks but was very good with my food even if I was stuck for two weeks with no weight lose.

Here are the news: I am going home on Saturday, I haven't been home (Israel) in 10 months. My body doesn't handle the excitment well and I haven't been able to eat anything in the past 3 days. Any solid food (no matter what kind) that I tried eating made me sick. So for the past 3 days I live on liquids. 3 EAS shakes a day tons of water of and coffee of course... I lost 3 lb. I'm happy about the wieght lose but I cna't wait to go back to eating food without thorwing up! I guess that'll happen when I get to Israel on Sunday...
I will try to write while on vacation. I already told my parents what my eating habbits looks like and they are fully comitted to help me and eat like me smile
I'm overly excited smile

have a wonderful weekend everybody smile

I'm back up to 134 again due to slugginess and not-great eating. I do try to eat well! Yesterday I had my normal EAS shake for breakfast (I'm not a breakfast person, that's the most I can bring myself to "eat"). Then a "low carb" meatloaf - grean beans - peas dinner. Lots of water and vitamins. Two eggs later on as a snack. I just wasn't very hungry which I suppose is a good thing smile

Studies show that journalizing your daily food intake actually leads directly to weight loss because you are more aware of what you're eating. So journal away!
