Lifting weights serves no purpose other than threatening the muscle fibers which forces them to grow.
Math is an exercise to stimulate abstract and critical thinking.
Without these brain circuits forced to grow, none of us would be able to think objectively and we would remain peasants.
Growth is the only evidence of life even if it is not practical in everyday life.
People grow together or grow apart as evidenced by divorce rates.
Ignorance is not a person -- it is a thing to be battled by sharpening the mind.
This requires effort.
And we humans don't like effort.

Since I'm a deist, like the founding fathers, I would take what you have stated above and interpret it thusly:
The apathy towards chaos and suffering would be due to The One (for lack of a better term) setting up immutable laws and free will.
The human experience is that each individual is god.
And as god we create and co-create under the auspices of The One.
All human suffering is based upon the choice, will we enshrine the little god or the greater god ?
Enshrining the little god is forcing your human will upon others for a sick kick -- thus the bloody trail of humanity.
Enshrining the greater god within you is disciplining the little god and eventually extinguishing the lower self so that you can become One with The Absolute One.
Only a handful of men and women have become absolute spirit god throughout the centuries and millennia.
That is a handful of folks who did it publicly and established each of the 7 world religions.
Etymology would get a lot of people the understanding that each word, as each thought, deed, and feeling can be drilled down into to find at its core a divine perfection or a human perversion.
The divine is objective and aloof because we create our own suffering.
The word religion simply means ' to bind back ' back to what is subjective.
The word avatar, totally misused in today's parlance really means ' god-man '.
And technology means the knowledge, science and skill to use The Logos ' The Word ' properly.
The only thing that separates us from the animal kingdom is the ability to speak.
We create with speech and until we can be trusted to create perfect love, perfect beauty and perfect peace, joy and happiness -- we will not be allowed to enshrine our creations with eternity.
The Garden of Eden is the place we decided each one individually to create and enshrine the outer human ego instead of the internal eternal individualized manifestation of The One as his/her/its offspring.
It's interesting to note the individual most responsible for mass inducing atheism as a social, political and economic form of life -- Karl Marx -- actually believed in god and hated him / her and it.
I'm very apathetic to a lot of things.
Unfortunately, I was given subjective proof that this ' Absolute One ' does exist and he is me !
I didn't want that kind of responsibility so I decided instead to enshrine my outer human ' carnal ' mind instead.
We create our own heavens and our own hells and we cannot escape that because each of us individually has decided to enshrine the outer human ego.
I really don't like that immutable aloof law so I really enjoy an avowed atheist's poignant observation of the human condition.
I really sucks knowing that god exists and him / her / it is inside me -- I wish at times I didn't know -- because ignoring that is bliss -- knowing it is suffering beyond comprehension.
Once you know it, you become Public Enemy #1
Beatings, Incarceration, and Mental Asylums have been my lot for such knowledge.
I decided it is not worth it anymore and a warm bed is better than a cold bench.
Like for instance, the knowledge that earth is a crossroads of many differing evolutions from many different systems of stars and galaxies.
This sort of thing ended me up in the lu lu bin.
There are many, many evolutions upon this planet whose ' consciousness is seared ' meaning that they will never ever want, need, require or desire to find and know this Absolute One.
It is an act of mercy from the ' higher powers that be ' because as soon as you know -- then you are forced to confront Absolute Good and Absolute Evil within your own psyche.
Evil is simply ' the energy veil ' which keeps hidden that which is sacred from the profane.
Sin is simply error that can be corrected.
We live in a universe that has a hierarchy of laws, many of which we have discovered.
Try as we many can we change the fact that water freezes at 0 degrees Celsius ?
No.
We live in a mutable and perishable universe.
But it is a reflection of the invisible universe.
There is so much perversion in orthodox religious edifices that I totally understand and agree with your choice to be any of the A Labels you so eloquently discussed above.
Yet, I'm a human being, you are a human being and we can discourse without killing eachother -- it's called respect for life -- and all these so-called religions who supposedly serve a god of love will kill you and me at the drop of a hat !!!
It's difficult to keep a roof over your head no matter what socioeconomic status you were born into or aspire to.
Religion is a political device to acquire wealth.
That's all the f it is !!
Yet the human spirit has certain striving parameters built-in IF you are a lover and respecter of Life.
Lot 'o people running around who have no respect for life.
Been in jail with some of them.
They will rip your body apart from stem to stern with a butter knife and sleep that night like a baby.
No consciousness, no soul, no life the literal walking dead 'cause they are the offspring of an otherworldly seed and evolution.
You are not like that Les.
You are a lover and respecter of life and because so, you rightfully criticize ' religion ' and have made atheism your choice.
