Many of you may know that every day I hold a cyber meditation at 8pm my time in the Netherlands, which would be 7pm UK, 2pm East Coast, 1pm Central, noon Mountain, 11am West Coast time.

Or, meditate at 8pm in your time zone so we create a rolling meditation around the globe.

I meditate for 10 minutes.

Please join me - it's for personal peace, and when more and more join in world peace will follow!

This is great, Susan! Thank you for starting this thread. I missed the cyber meditation today, bummer! I won't be around at noon until Saturday, but i will add this to my calendar to try to join yuo as often as I can.

I hope to do a little meditating today - not right now. Still way too much to do while it's still daylight here. smile

I wish i was getting away. Actually, I don't - it's nice to be home right now. I just have a lot of appointments this week.

I am going to do the one minute meditation right now...

Done! That was actually very restful. Thank you for the reminder! I want to do this each day, with the eventual goal of setting aside enough daily time to do a fuller session.

Jilly, I'm happy you took the time for the one minute meditation. It goes to show that every precious moment in meditation pays off by giving the body and mind a rest.

Phyllis, I'm glad you can join in and Jilly, that's great you'll be joining in again, also. Knowing we are meditating together is a powerfully peaceful thought to me, like standing in the eye of a hurricane.

Over here we just got through Hurricane Andrea. We're okay.

Glad you got through Andrea. I didn't realize you got hurricanes in europe.

I enjoyed today's meditation! I want to join you for tomorrow too.

Jilly, yes, I agree that it is cool to think we're surrounding the world in meditation!

This is the first time I remember our own named storm. It came from the north-west, from Scotland before us. It was the most rain at one time in 14 years, lots of flooding but our village was okay, water was at the top of our local canal 5 houses from us up the street.

Usually we get the remnants of hurricanes that have come up the east coast of America and then south of Greenland and to Iceland, Scotland and The Netherlands ...

So far this winter we haven't had any frost and the birds are singing and mating, Spring bulbs are up, my aconites are blooming, plus roses haven't quit from last summer. We haven't had any frost, even. This morning it is 50F out.

Can really see this one minute meditation becoming a regular appointment Susan, it really gives a feeling of peace. Peace in our minds and in our hearts, a brilliant start, and hopefully one day amongst the peoples of the world. My wouldnt that be good. smile

My formal meditation place is under the eaves in the attic. There is a small roof window above me. The attic is carpeted and used as a guest room occasionally. But basically it is my personal space. I upturned and covered a carton with a cloth for my altar, and I sit on a cushion. ...

Susan, first of all I must say my mind and whole self is feeling much peace and comfort with the mediation every morning. It makes me feel as if we are all together in spirit. This is something that can only grow to reach out to others around the world.

Your sacred meditation place sounds very serene and lovely. I do not have an attic (I love attics), so my sacred place is on my patio which is quite private and serene for me. I can be close to the little mountain out there and know the Hawks are soaring above as I mediate. It brings me much peace, for it is a very spiritual place, the mountain and all the little critters, rocks and Hawks.

My spirit soars when I am out there.

Jilly, I think it would be a place where you just feel totally comfortable and secure in your privacy and serenity. You will find it, I am sure.

One thing we all have is that sacred place within us.

Phyllis, thank you. I do find it peaceful. It reminds me of the scene from the movie Christmas Vacation with Chevy Chase up in the attic, when he was reflecting on his childhood via the scenes flashing by in the old movie reel.

When I was a youngster growing up on a farm our family raised Chesapeake Bay Retrievers. They had their own dog house and I loved to crawl in there and sit with them a spell. Meditating for me is the same kind of feeling, going within the house of my body and settin' a spell.

In the photo below the dog house is the structure next to the cabin at the far right behind the car. In the photo I am sitting to the right.

Susan that space looks so peaceful. Do you have anything on your altar, or is that just empty space?

Jilly, from the earlier post:

"I upturned and covered a carton with a cloth for my altar, and I sit on a cushion. ..."

I keep a few objects under the altar and set them on top when I sit: pictures of saints, a quartz crystal, a mala. I keep my meditation journal underneath, also.

About living on the farm and the dog house, I feel lucky to have had nature to roam in growing up with my brother, mostly, and the dogs for companionship. My sister was several years younger, but my brother and I just a year a part and almost like twins.

I'm so excited to find you all here! I love meditating with others, in different spaces, same time.

I'm in! 1pm CST. I was out doing a walking meditation in the falling snow during that time today. Wish I had known.

If it's okay with you Susan, I will share this forum link on my forum and facebook pages so that we can increase the numbers around the world.

Yvonnie, welcome to the cyber meditation! Yes, do spread the word. I love feeling part of the group energy with our 3 goals:
- personal peace
- planetary peace
- world upliftment

Jilly, I put the altar items away incase a visitor such as the cat strolls by and leaves hair behind, as she does on my computer desk ...

For those who can't join in at the appointed hour, there is an alternative:

Whenever you can meditate make the intention it is to join the energy of the group cyber meditation.

After all, no one time will work for everyone every day of the week, with life events going on as they do!

smile

When I meditate I first try to gather or sink into my own peace of the moment, the sitting still really helps my mind relax, as well as breathing evenly in and out. Feeling peaceful I then mentally extend feelings of harmony like sending out rays from the sun. This gives me a feeling on connection with others and the world.

My cat also likes to sit up against my side when I'm still ...

Jilly, I'm glad you are able to participate in your own time - we're all timeless - eh!

i meditate everyday at the moment cause i ve got lots to meditate upon.it s a healhy thing to do and a natural thing too.i just meditate when it s needed,it doesnt have to be everyday there s no real law for tha apart frothe law of your heart.
i just clear my mind and meditate on the first thing that comes up then i follow the thread and let it develop.meditation is only over when you ve reached the seed and when you ve done a full circle or cycle.
ifyou want to meditate for realit has to come from your heart and don t epect anything out of it,just watch where it is going to lead you.

WoW !!!

I Thank Each and every one of you for your heartfelt explanation of what is it that you meditate on.

For me, I take the time to still the mind and the raging emotions to tune into the subtle emanations of the god within.

It is so strange to try to maintain sane balance to realize and cognized that god is within -- the god and the goddess Alpha and Omega are actually one and the same within you -- and then stay in a flesh form and do the necessary duties and tasks of daily life.

It's kinda weird, but I'm trying.

Being a sunbeam and a source of light in a darkened world is a very good duty and dharma.

Difficult, yet extremely helpful.

I do appreciate Susan you starting this meditation.

There is no time or space -- only now.

I've tried and succeeded ONLY by God's Grace to purchase large amounts of time to meditate.

I guess I'm on a path of contemplation.

Sometimes it seems futile, but knowing that others are striving to harmonize and purify world thought one individual at a time is very encouraging to me !!

Thank You -- Thank All of You for helping us help eachother !!

Amen.

I meditate for about 30 minutes everyday without fail, I focus on spiritual things mostly. Afterwards, I go for a 30-45 minute walk everyday (unless it's raining).

It really brings calm to daily chaos.

Healthy mind = healthy body = healthy YOU :-)

I have gotten into the habit of meditating at the same time every day. I also meditate any time some issue or problem arises that I need to face. This helps me to clear my mind so I can clear up the issues/problems.

Right after meditating in our Cyber Meditation last evening at my appointed hour of 8pm here in The Netherlands I fell asleep for 12 hours. This was good because the day before I slipped on snowy ice and fell foreward in my backyard and hit my forehead on a stack of concrete pavers, causing a cut and knot but not a concussion. After being xrayed it was determined I did not have any broken bones but I have large bruises and knots on my right leg from knee down and on my upper left arm. I'm taking pain meds as prescribed for 2 more days.

Gosh Susan that is awful. Although what you have is bad enough thank goodness you were not more badly hurt...........now you have a real reason to 'take things easy'.

It is certainly treacherous out there at the moment, have to take really baby steps in some places. That fantastic Elfstedentocht ice skating race might actually be able to take place this year in Holland, and there has not been enough ice for that for many years. It is an amazing sight, not to mention an endurance test par excellence.

Hopefully you were not practising for it in your garden when you slipped. smile

Am still there at our appointed meditation time, it has become a routine now...........and a very enjoyable and calming one. A very good idea of yours, thank you.

Take Care.

Hi Francine and Burt,

Glad to hear from both of you! I do agree that sleep is healing. BTW, it was hidden ice under the snow.

Francine, it is good that the meditation time has become a routine. I wouldn't miss it, either. But if the time needs to be changed on some days, that's okay, too. I think it is the intention that it be for personal and world peace that works to uplift us and and world.

Hi Loong,

Thank you so much for remembering me. If you're referring to my ice capade the only place still hurting and bruised is the front of my right knee - right where you'd kneel. It's 7 weeks now. Blessings, Susan

Dear Susan,

Went to the gym.In the middle of my workout ,I always do 10 to 15 minutes of meditation.Today ,I did what I call Metta meditation.I inhale the suffering of others and exhale thoughts of good health.Did it for 10 minutes.
Hope everything will be well.

Meditation becomes a regular habit when repeated at the same time of day over a period of time - the body and mind sort of come to expect those moments of down time.

Taking the time for meditation helps keep me balanced. The most obvious way I see this? When I forget to make time for meditation, sleep becomes elusive.

You could try combining meditation time with another activity. For example, after brushing your teeth at night walk to your meditation spot and sit for a few minutes before going to bed.

I'm so pleased by all the views on this thread. I think it shows that so many of us want to meditate as one world and universal family. With all the scientific news coming out about how populated with suns even our own milky way is (4 billion stars), how could we possibly be the only civilization!

Hi Connie,

My opinion is you are communing spiritually with your crown chakra, which is sometimes shown as a violet light.

When you experience the light of the chakra you can bring knowledge from the subjective into the objective realm - which means spiritual insights may dawn with a practical application.

Blessings. smile

I just did the meditation - it was lovely!

I have a meditation video The Garden of Now which I reviewed in this meditation forum in 2011 -

The Garden of Now Review

So I watched the waterfall section of that, and then put it on the main title page for the background music for a while.

I meditated this morning for five minutes. I felt so peaceful and relaxed afterwards.

What a nice way to start the day. And a great way to rebalance everyday. I'm going to plan to do this everyday.

I meditated for ten minutes in the sun, feeling its glorious golden rays shower me with energy. The smell of the garden soil and flowers, the twittering of different types of birds, and the beautiful sight of a stunning gold and black butterfly alighting upon the lemon tree made me feel like I was sitting in Eden.

I frequently meditate throughout the day wherever I go with minute meditations. In the car, waiting room, etc. I even learned to meditate while standing in line. It feels so good. Doesn't bother me to have to wait anywhere anymore. Used to take a book but now I prefer to meditate.

I will be doing a ten minute meditation in just about ten minutes, at ten pm EST. I'd love to have people join me! I simply sit in my desk chair, so it is easy. It is quite stress-releasing.

Just finished my ten minute meditation exactly ten minutes later, without a timer. It's amazing how the brain can do that. Peaceful. I highly recommend wiggling a ten minute meditation into your schedule, it's amazingly restful.

Kudos to all our meditators! My formal meditation is 11am west coast time.

We can all be part of a meditation for world peace by making the intention that our meditations join together from near and far with this intent.

For me, on Netherlands time, I sit at 8pm to anchor the daily world-wide cyber meditation. smile

This is wonderful! I will plan to meditate with you all at 11 AM and 7 PM West Coast Time (PST).

How long will you meditate for, Susan?

Are you familiar with this group called the World Peace Ring? They join hands in a circle and meditate together and say a prayer for world peace. Of course, those who cannot be there in the physical, meet up in the spiritual. smile

That's great on your daily meditation at 8pm your time. So would that be 2pm east coast time? I'm not always awake at 2pm, but I can certainly be aware of it the times that I am. How long do you meditate for?

Yes, every day at 10pm I have a timer to remind me to meditate for 10 minutes. With my odd schedule it seems to be the only time that I'm almost always awake for. Although tonight it'll be in the middle of an editor chat so I'll have to push it off for a few hours smile.

Yes, 8pm here in the Netherlands translates as 2pm east coast time and 11am west coast time. I usually sit for 20 minutes, but even one minute is wonderful. We started our daily cyber meditation on the New Year January 1, 2012.

I love meditation and don't know how I ever managed without it.

It was challenging at first as I tried to fit it in to an already busy schedule then I managed to incorporate it into my day and embodied it.

Now every day and every activity is a meditation. Keeping a background awareness of the breath and being mindful of tasks, walking, eating etc helps me stay balanced and calm.

I'm Vipassana trained and aim to attend at least one silent retreat a year. I also meditate formally for an hour (sometimes 2) each day before sleeping and on waking alongside my yoga practice.

Thanks Susan. It's definitely come in handy the past few weeks as I've been coping with pleurisy. Think I would have gone insane through the pain if I didn't have meditation in my life.

Yes. Earlier in the day I was full of fear and anxiety. I'm very sensitive to our collective consciousness as human beings. I'm Scorpio, and live between two bodies of water. I don't follow it closely, but I think we just passed a full moon a couple of days ago. At any rate, I try to pray in my heart and my mind for all sentient life everywhere... and usually that is met with resistance or distraction. Now, I was lying in bed at around 9:21pm EDT and still just trying to send waves of peace and love and beauty out while trying to push through the resistance. Well, all of a sudden things started getting better... Hmm... I heard the chimes @ 10pm but I have them set 5 min ahead. Then, I was really able to break through to the source and bless all life everywhere, and had inner confirmation. I glance up at the clock and it was 10:12pm !!! Please continue to open up that highway to the source !!! smile smile smile !!!!

I did notice that beautiful moon too, Burt. I got a very peaceful feeling when looking at it.

I am happy that all the meditating brought you a peaceful feeling. What we do to open channels to the source can certainly affect all others around us.

I wanted to go look at where the moon rises in town so I could map out a plan to take photos at some point, but haven't quite done it yet. Maybe next month I can do that.

A lovely meditation. I started a little late because I both had to have iTunes running to overlay Bob's Celtics game, but also shut down my Facebook windows to stop them from pinging me with beeps smile. I have some nice Enya playing. Mmmmm.

A lovely ten minute meditation, meditated to three songs by Enya. Have to take May It Be out though - it fills me with poignancy. It's the song from the first Lord of the Rings and I think I connect with that series too strongly to use it as a meditation song smile.

That was lovely. Once again I played Enya music while I meditated. I find it soothing. My current trio of songs is Orinoco Flow, Watermark, and Only Time.

I loved girl scout camp too Susan! I was supposed to go out there today but I got too busy with all the things going on. It shows that I do need to take a break to meditate!

We are ten minutes away from the 10pm meditation that last for ... can you guess? ... ten minutes! You can go longer if you wish smile

Joan - That is awesome! I am thinking of making a spiral in my back yard, to do a moving meditation that way. After the fire pit is done, that'll be my next project smile.

A lovely 14 minute meditation to Enya. I'm adding the title track from the 1990 Hamlet soundtrack, to make it a bit longer for next time.

I meditated for fifteen minutes, to my music playlist. Bob is watching Celebrity Apprentice which isn't exactly soothing smile. So my Enya drowned out the sniping, which is good! A lovely time.

Well technically the reason I was doing 10 minutes was to encourage others to join in - I figured if I said it was "only" ten minutes that even newbies would be willing to try. And I figured by holding myself to ten minutes that I could post afterwards to talk with people about how it went smile.

But nobody is chiming in smile.

So I did finally have one person on facebook want to do 15 minutes, so I went with that, to see if I could get him to keep it up. No such luck so far. So I keep trying and experimenting!

A lovely, refreshing meditation tonight, always just right. I highly recommend joining me tomorrow night!

Dear Lori -

Oh I didn't mean to make anybody feel guilty! I was just explaining the sequence of events. It's fine that people are busy!

Yes I have an Outlook alarm set on my computer. It's the only way I'd realize it was coming up. I get so involved in projects that time slips away smile.

One way to begin a regular meditation practice is to take a small retreat - for a day or weekend. This sets up a routine to be continued at home. Creating a formal meditation time is a choice. When I began meditating in the mid-70s it changed my life for the better. I encourage you to give it a try.

That is an awesome recommendation. I adored my retreat at Kripalu. It helped make me realize how wonderful a meditation session felt. I do highly recommend it.

Only 10 minutes until the meditation at 10pm! My fire pit is blazing along beautifully; I will have a relaxing fire-based meditation. How will you meditate tonight?

I agree completely with Susan! Short meditations are still wonderful!

I let Bob know when I go to meditate, so he's aware to let me be smile

Only ten minutes away from the 10pm meditation! Pull up a comfy pillow, have a glass of water, and open your mind to serenity!

LOL. Almost. Birds were chirping. Water trickling in a fountain next door. Chis playing. A train passed by in the distance. Breeze rustling through the trees above me. My son was upset about a work issue in the background but I was fine with it.

Fresh air was awesome. I felt peace. And the love and appreciation for everyone who cares about others and world peace that I felt an irrepressible urge to join my hands in a Namaste position.

But then, my son stood right in front of me. "I'm meditating," I said quietly. But it was clear he wanted to talk so I opened my eyes and smiled.

He poured out his frustrations about his level one techs and I listened. Then, I offered a suggestion for which he was grateful.

World Peace begins at home. smile

It is wonderful that you had time for you and also time to be present for others. A win-win! And hopefully with your guidance your son will be more able in the future to be patient and give you the time you need smile.

LOL. One can hope. smile

My son feels much better, even happy and hopeful now, so that makes me feel good, too. He is a young adult and learning how to deal with people to encourage their best to come forth. I love his desire to do so.

I think that I will put on some earphones for tomorrow's meditation so I can listen to some meditation music (not to block anyone out)!

I agree with you wholeheartedly. When we bolster our personal peace, we can then be more peaceful with each person we interact with. That then helps them be more peaceful, and it ripples outward!

In front of a lovely nature scene on my computer screen with nature sounds. Then, hubby walks in and wants to talk, look at the book proofs, etc.

He just left so I'll be drifting off again...

Lisa - you are consistently reaching 20 minutes in meditation - that is a tribute to your perseverance, which is needed by anyone with a meditation practice. Yeah! And I love your fire pit - it looks safe, too, with the cover. What a good idea!

Bob was quite insistent on a cover, and I agreed with him. We have a lot of trees around us and we wouldn't want to hurt them smile.

I have a timer on my computer, so I think a large portion of my ability to meditate is simply that I am being reminded to do so. If I didn't have the timer, I'd probably forget most of the time smile.

Lisa, yes, I agree, a timer is a good idea to bring one to meditation. At my retreats a gong would sound, and in my community church, even now, bells ring at their appointed hours.

I saw the time at 7:05 and quickly began to meditate but I was sitting next to hubby and chis so I knew I'd have only a minute there with you.

I've been meditating at least twice a day for 15-30 minutes lately. I feel different. Calmer. More fulfilled.

That was lovely, although I think I need to take Somewhere Over the Rainbow by Israel K out of the mix. It triggers too many thought-patterns for me.

I'm heartened to see so many of us looking into meditation - whether at your home or out in nature, a time can be wedged in to enjoy the peace.

I was just falling down a notch with some bad feelings about myself and saw this. Just meditated for ten minutes. What an energy changer. I feel tingly and in bliss...

Thank you so much. smile

A lovely 19 minute meditation. Now I'm in the mood to watch Eastern Promises - Viggo Mortensen. There is just something about Ukrainian men.

Power came back on just in time to meditate. Is this backwards? Still, I'm grateful to have power smile Join me! What are you grateful for?

A lovely session, though my computer fan chose this time to go into a high rev. And it finished right when I ended. Intriguing smile

Ten minutes until our 10pm meditation! Let's all try a walking meditation tonight. It's quite easy, and a great way to get started!

A lovely walking meditation session. I find I am able to slow down and release tension more when I'm walking vs sitting. On the down side, my house is quite messy so walking around it tends to distract me and make me discouraged. So I should walk around outside next time, if it's not raining.

Pausing in my tax reconciliations to meditate at 10pm. My brain definitely needs it smile. It's feeling a little fried. What have you been up to today? Do you need a little break?

... Object based meditation is when you focus on a flickering candle flame, moving fountain, or other object. This is what I'll be doing tonight. I'll use my fountain.
