For one of my readers, Dork in Detroit, here's the full description of my EAS morning meal including my vitamins!

Lisa's Daily Breakfast

What do you guys have for breakfast?

I now try to eat the same breakfast but will alternate a little now and then. My breakfast beverage depends on my mood of the morning.

#1: 1 slice whole grain toast with cream cheese, red grapes OR fresh strawberries, coffee or green tea

#2: 1/2 cup cottage cheese, fresh fruit preferably fresh berries or red grapes, coffee or green tea

#3: 1 fried egg or 2 egg veggie omelet, whole grain toast, dab of ketchup, 1/2 apple, coffee or tea

I like to chew on something instead of just drinking, as in a protein drink. It just doesn't feel substantial enough for me.

I now take fish oil, Vitamin D, a low dose multi-vitamin, zinc, calcium in the form of Tums (offsets the acids in coffee)...and Kyolic, a Japanese odorless garlic supplement. I eat a lot of Vitamin C-rich foods and I don't want to risk toxicity.

It may not seem like a lot of food at breakfast but as a diabetic, I eat often. I eat a mid-morning snack of nuts, cheese, yogurt, veggies sticks with hummus, etc.

We're all different, and that's fine! When I wake up I don't feel like chewing on anything. I'm just not hungry. The shake is the most I can manage. I know I have to have it for health reasons.

As I just have a shake in the morning, having 2 eggs plus toast plus an apple seems like a lot to me smile.

I have about 3 variations that I choose from.

1. spinach, kale, carrot juice, 2 strawberries, 2 pineapple chunks and a banana. I mix it up in my Ninja, throw the top on and enjoy.

2. 1 egg white on wheat toast, sometimes a slice a cheese

3. Any cold cereal and fat-free organic milk. My current fav is Honey Bunches of Oats, Cinnamon Crunch. (It's horrible because it's loaded with sugar but it has 5g of Fiber). But it's so delicious. I may have this one a week.

2) Green juice w/lemon & ginger (no other fruits; this drink creates a wonderful calm in me)

my typical breakfast during winter is:
1 small slice homemade sourdough bread, toasted with butter, plus one ounce of mild cheese fried in the skillet covered with corn kernels. (The cheese crisps up when fried - like bacon). mid-morning one or two tangerines.

Summer breakfast is usually a shake of apple juice, frozen bananas and cherry yogurt.

Dear Lisa ,

I am not a great cook even if I have been living alone ,ohhh for about 35 to 40 years .Started having breakfast at home.
This morning made an omelet.What an omelet .I was almost out of milk ,burned it a little.I ate it .Nothing to brag about,something more to bring a smile on people's face.

Yes, Barb, this is the point I'm finally understanding. I complicate my life far too much.

And Lisa, you're right about what is "a lot" to eat. I eat too much. In the past, breakfasts would be last night's leftovers or a three-egg omelet, starchy side (potatoes or rice), sausage/bacon, toast, fruit, coffee.

This morning, I made a ONE egg omelet with some fresh spinach (Yvonnie, thanks for the idea to add veggies to breakfast! To me, a novel idea!) A slice of 12 grain toast with a small smear of cream cheese instead of butter, coffee. No fruit.

I love Greek Yogurt. I had some for a snack several of these past few days.

I wouldn't want that for breakfast, myself, because I'm just not in an "eating mood" when I first wake up. So for me my EAS shake works well. Otherwise I wouldn't eat anything at all.

I had my shake today!

Yup, my EAS shake. I'm out of fiber pills, though. Bob is having to get me a new type - Sam's Club doesn't carry the Fiber Choice I like. Hmmmm.

Had my EAS shake with new gummy fiber pills by FiberWell. I don't like these as much as the FiberChoice orange chewy circles I used to get. I hope Sam's Club gets the FiberChoice back in again soon.

I made an egg scramble with spinach, chopped tomatoes, peppers, onions and cheese. It was sooo good and doesn't take that long to make. Cleaning out the pan afterwards takes more time than actually cooking it!

Finishing off my EAS protein shake & vitamins before I go to the dentist. Awesome part of low carb: not one cavity since I began low carbing, over ten years ago. It's healthy to cut out all that added sugar!

I'm just not hungry in the morning, so I have a protein shake. It gets nutrients into me in a way I can manage. I had mine today and it's just right for me. I know it's not right for everyone smile.

Just getting started, having my EAS protein shake and various vitamins. It's how I like to start my day. Just not up for eating. #lowcarb How are you doing today? Oh, and I had two small chocolate brownies for dessert last night, as a splurge - and I couldn't fall asleep until 7am. Tossed and turned all night. So that was definitely a reminder not to do that again smile. Are you resisting?

I actually had oatmeal. I've been pretty good recently making my breakfast, but today I was running late for work so I grabbed a packet of oatmeal and brought it with me to work. Unfortunately right after I made the oatmeal and brought it to my office, someone needed help so by the time I got back to my office the oatmeal is was a congealed mess, microwaved oatmeal just doesn't taste the same. :-)

First breakfast is half a vanilla Premier protein shake topped up with a cup of 2% milk. Then it's two half-mile walks - one with our dog and one with a neighbor's dog - followed by breakfast for our dog and cat and my second breakfast. Today it was 1oz roast beef, 1oz cubed cheese and 1oz mixed nuts.

I had weight loss surgery 5 months ago, so I have to take in 80 grams of protein a day.

Low carb? Not really. 1 cup Teecino w/cream. 1 hr later I ate an apple. One hour after that I ate 1 svg of black-eye peas and a slice of corn bread.

Of course breakfast did not begin until 1pm today. Gotta get back in the saddle; salad for dinner.

This morning, I had two scrambled eggs with just a tiny bit of soy sauce on them, along with a cup of coffee and water.

I am definitely going low carb but it's hard because I'm going going vegetarian (not vegan though. Lacto-ovo.) Choices are few.

I used to love a piece of toast with cream cheese or cottage cheese on it, but now that I'm off the bread, I need another base for my cottage cheese and cream cheese. Ideas?

I just may have to go liquid for breakfast although I am a chewer!

I haven't had anything yet even though you've told me over and over to eat something within 30 minutes of awakening.

I'll sip some water and decide. Just read some fantastic breakfast recipes online: Baked eggs in avocado, baked spiced grapefruit, eggs in spicy tomato sauce with chickpeas. Who knew breakfast could be so interesting?

Weekdays generally consist of Trader Joe's Raisin Bran (8 grams of fiber) topped with Chia Seeds and either dried cranberries or fresh berries. Today, it's fresh strawberries.

Baked eggs in avocado sounds yummy! Maybe I'll make that on Saturday.

Having my EAS protein shake with chewy vitamins. Back down to 139.2 after a weekend of unhealthy carb-eating. I'd gone up over 140, and I felt so sluggish too! Just "blah" the entire time. Why did I do it? Lesson re-learned - eat healthy so I feel good and have energy for fun summery things.

I'm down to 138.6lb! Progress is quick when one eats healthy foods and gets into motion. I was over 140 this past weekend (and felt awful!!) by giving in to what the 'group' was eating, which wasn't healthy.

Today I've had an EAS shake for breakfast and Bob is bringing home a rotisserie chicken for lunch. He'll make mashed cauliflower to go with that. Yummm! I love the way he makes that. How are you doing tonight?

Same as always when at home

30g granary bread toasted (from local baker)
low fat spread
marmalade (homemade from Seville oranges)

Both healthy and tasty.

I usually have orange juice (with bits!), a mixed grain and nut cereal with fresh fruit and semi-skimmed milk or yoghurt, and tea with no milk or sugar, but a bit of lemon.

For a couple of weeks in February the shops have boxes of Seville oranges from Spain for marmalade making.

We buy and freeze them whole so during the year as we run out we can make a fresh batch of marmalade.

Another time saver is, after defrosting them, to halve then boil them before slicing the peels and removing the pips. Makes it much easier to slice the peel as its very soft by them. Then make the jam.

Nowadays I have a Ninja blend of fruits and veggies that my husband blends for himself. I'm starting to lose weight because of them. It's fun to experiment with different flavors.

Yup I had my EAS protein shake with chewy vitamins for breakfast again. That's how I like to start my day. I'm just not an eat-breakfast person. As it is, I usually don't even finish the shake. I get maybe 8/10ths through it and put the rest in the fridge for Bob. How are you doing today?

I am still maintaining my healthy plan of having an EAS protein nutritional shake every morning. I'm just not hungry in the morning and that helps ensure I get good nutrition and protein into me to start the day.

Mini wheats, raisin bran, eggs, toast, oatmeal, yogurt. Everyday it is something different.
