I concur with Joan here. Green tea will boost your metabolism and also kill any mid-day appetite. I prefer Yerba Mate most of the time though. It has a majority of the same stuff in green tea, but I prefer the taste and you can get it flavored.

One of the biggest things that affects me is to not eat while doing other things; like snacking while watching TV or reading. It is amazing how much more you will eat when your attention is on something else.

But the time that I have had the hardest to overcome is not eating while I'm working on the computer. I would try to save time by eating breakfast or lunch at the same time I was writing - and half the time couldn't even remember what I had eaten!

By eating and focusing on the food, and really enjoying it, I eat a lot less.

suthernbelle, I wanted to like yerba matte but just couldn't get past the taste. I know it's really healthy.

Michelle, eating while you're doing something else is a hard habit to break but it is just a habit. Maybe you could substitute the habit of drinking a nice cup of tea or even munching carrot sticks or something more healthy.
