Me too. I am looking forward to the 3 biking events I will ride in August and September. I have already bought one season ski pass and will buy a second one in a couple weeks. Tomorrow after my bike ride, I'll take inventory of my ski gear and see what I should look for in terms of new gear at the Fall ski swaps. Beats the hell out of paying for ballet lessons, or braces! So Mohler can go ahead and call me as many names as he wants. He has got both feet planted firmly in 1950s. I didn't need his permission on the consent form when I got snipped.

Here is something else for that Mohler guy: (I refuse to use the word Mr. because that implies respect and I have no respect for stuffed shirts like him)

When were you in heaven and what did God look like? From the Isaac B. Singer novel,
The Magician of Lublin.

I have had my permanent CF stance criticized by both liberal and conservatives alike. A former neighbor (liberal in her political opinions) was shocked that I wouldn't date a woman with kids and that I didn't want kids. Thankfully she moved out of state a year ago.
YIPPEE!!!

This is quite offensive to me as someone who believes in God. I don't believe that God would want me to make a choice for my life that would make me miserable. I also believe (as the author of the article obviously does not) that God is a loving God not fire and brimstone. And, didn't "God" give us this little thing called "free will?" He also gave us a brain and I would suspect he meant for us to use it. Anyway- I guess some would say that my religious beliefs are somewhat convenient to my choices, and that I'm not a "real" believer since I choose not to go to church etc. But isn't that the beauty of free will?

Who do people have such a hard time with this? Some of my girlfriends accept that I don't want kids of my own ... but can't understand why I won't date a guy with kids. If I don't want my own, why the hell would I want to be an unpaid babysitter for someone else's? Hello???

Yes, but they're (supposedly, theorhetically) not having sex. (HA...tell that to my friend Kathleen, who actually joined a "community" as a novice nun in her 20s, until she found out a few months later that her mother superior was in a long-standing sexual relationship with a priest, who also serves as K.'s "spiritual advisor". Wow).

The problem is NON-PROCREATIVE SEX. They're obsessed with it and are very upset that *anyone* might be having it --- at least, officially!

LMAO!!! That is too funny. I also think bonsai makes an excellent point about non-procreative sex. Heaven forbid anyone should have sex for pleasure!

Yea, right. How many millions of "old school" Catholics and fundamentalist Protestants are using BC behind closed doors?

They harp on us for having recreational sex, but there are a lot of such families with only a couple of kids. Hmmm... Either that's a depressingly limited sex life or quite a bit of hypocrisy.

Sorry to rant so pointlessly, but this is a peeve of mine.

Yes, it is true that animals breed but what the author of the article is mandating is essentially the same as what an animal is to do...breed for the sake of breeding.....
We were born with minds that THINK and the ability to prevent births of unwanted children. It is extremely upsetting and disturbing to me when so-called Christians put on this front of being so holier than thou for this and for that....A Christian is supposed to Christ-like, full of love, and an example that makes others WANT to follow/know God. These type of "Christians" , in my opinion, do more to turn others away by making God seem like this unloving tyrant that forces us to breed like dogs, judge others for whatever reason, and really appear to be filled with hate or dislike of any other group that dares to think otherwise, or go outside of his will. Those statistics do nothing more than scare others. With all of these billions of people on earth, I seriously doubt that the maybe....100,000 men/women that are childfree (childfree minded/willfully barren) are any kind of threat to the world population growth.
I absolutely refuse to believe that God would grant us the ability to have free will to make our own decisions, the ability to prevent unwanted births, and women the ability to do other things OUTSIDE of giving birth if he ONLY wanted women to give birth.
Plus, the quiverfull movement and those that are choosing to have more than the standard 2.1 children will more than balance out those of us (enlightened ones) that are choosing not have children. And, I am not falling for this whole "sex is only for procreation" mess...With the marriage rate on the decline, leave some sort of incentive for us that are still considering marriage in life.

Well one of my (married) friends is hard-core Catholic. She told me that if I ever had an abortion I'd go to hell - but, she's very open about being on birth control and going to her best friend's commitment ceremony (that's right, two of her best friends are gay men.)

I'm not Catholic, so I don't know ... do you get to pick and choose what causes a person to go to hell? Maybe she thinks her friends ARE going to hell. Who knows?

Hi! Just thought I would throw in my 2-cents worth.
I have been married for 7 years, no children, and it is AMAZING the comments you get. I am of the LDS religion, and my husbands side of the family is HUGE!!! (Easter parties with siblings and first cousins: Over 200! We have to Easter egg hunt on a hill!) His siblings have 4-7 children each, and his cousins, one family has 14.
Now, we have not done anything to NOT have children, but on the other hand, we haven't done anything to "fix" it. I always knew I would probably have issues.
Our first couple of years, it was fine. Years 2-4, I was sad about it.
Then, I don't know if it was a "defense-Mechanism" or WHAT, but all of a sudden, not having kids was more and more appealing. We were like, "Didn't want kids anyway!"
We are SO in love (people still think we are "honey-mooners"...or that we have only been married for a year or so). We were High School sweethearts.
We are COMPLETYLY happy with each other.
But, every now and then, we have the "guilt" feelings of not having children.
I own a preschool, and every year, I meet about 72 new 4 year olds. It is a BLAST, and I LOVE kids, but after 2 1/2 hours, I get to send them home! (I enjoy THAT part of it too!)
Am I just terrible, or what?
Are we missing out???
