For a 1 gal tank I would change 50 % every 3 days or so....You do not even have to worry about or deal with tank cycling IF you do not use a filter AND you do this type of water change. Do you have them each in their own 1 gal tak, or is it one of those 1 gal with a divider. If it is a divided tank and 1 has ick then they both have it. If I suspected ick I would use the quick cure that has a dosage of 1 drop per gallon, have used it in the past and it works well for me. Hope that helps you out some.
