What's the longest book you've ever read? You can give the page count or word count.

And what's the longest movie you've sat through, willingly or not?

The Lord of the Rings, which I wrote about this week, clocks in at 455,125 words, says commonplacebook.com. But that's nothing to Vikram Seth's A Suitable Boy (591,554 words). I have yet to read it.

I doubt there's a longer movie than The Return of the King, though. The theatrical release was 3 hours and 21 minutes! Never mind the Extended and Special Extended Blu-Ray editions – for true fans only.

In regards to movies, most Indian/Bollywood films are around 3 hours or longer.

The longest movie I saw was an Indian movie - close to 4 hours long. I was in my early 20s with a group of friends, in India & on vacation too. It was in a theater - so it was fun. I don't have the time or patience now though .....
