When you are trying to lose weight, do you keep track of calories?

sometimes ... ok rarely. I can't keep up with all it takes to look up all the fresh fruits and veggies and then figure out how many servings I ate. I am more likely to notice the calories and salt content of a frozen dinner or packaged food and use that to decide if it is worth it i.e. yummy enough, but not necessarily to write them down in my journal.

Keeping track of calories is pretty important to me, because I eat so much that I don't think about. But, we are very bad here at getting enough fruits and veggies, and fresh veggies are mostly really low in calories anyway. So, as long as I am not eating apple pie with ice cream, I very seldom even make note of fruits and veggies in my calorie count. My goal there is to eat enough of them, and I figure a handful of carrots is so much better for me and probably keeps me from the handful of Oreos, so it ought to be a free snack! I have heard that some fresh veggies like celery and lettuce actually take more calories to process than they contain, so they are a super bargain!!! But, I really like peanut butter on my celery. Why does this have to be so hard?????

Yes fruits and vegetables are great because you can fill up on them and they are better for you and have fewer calories than sweets. I love fresh fruits with Greek yogurt sprinkled with walnuts or almonds. Also, love steamed vegetables; I think the more you experiment with them the more you like them.

I love peanut butter too and I know it's high in calories so I started buying the PB2 which is sold in most grocery stores. It's simply powdered peanuts and is much lower in calories than regular peanut butter. You mix it with water to make peanut butter. I mix it half and half with organic almond butter so that I can cut the calories in half. I love the taste smile
