Tonite i had a free hot spagetti and meat meal at the Bread of Life ministry in my town. It's a weekly thing but i don't usually avail myself of it. So that was a yummy dinner for free. smile

Claybird, that is great on the gas! You just squeaked in there. Whew!

Eurogirl, it's great when you can combine sales with coupons!

I saved a hundred dollars on food yesterday by getting my food stamps approved! I was able to pick up two fruiting trees and some brie cheese and various supplies i needed.

The day before I saved $10 in gas by going to Cottonwood with someone who was already driving there.

I saved money today by paying my bills on time! I usually end up with various late fees - I am using my calendar and being very good about paying bills on time each month, so to not fritter away money stupidly on late fees and penalties.

Today was my birthday and I saved money by taking advantage of that! I had a free beer and slice of pizza at my favorite bar, and then had a free Grand Slam breakfast late at night at Denny's.

The whole idea of free birthday treats is a pretty cool concept.

I saved money today by walking for my in-town errands, by not buying anything, and from watering my fruit trees with my greywater system while doing laundry! A good day!

Today I saved money by using rainwater for my laundry and then by reusing the grey water in my garden.

I received a free gallon of garden compost tea from my hydroponics store by bringing them a coupon that came in the mail. I also gave them 10 empty milk containers (you get a free gallon of tea for every 50 milk jugs - I knew I was saving them for a reason!) smile

One gallon of professionally brewed compost tea makes 5 gallons of garden fertilizer BTW.

I got several large bins of free mulch from my neighborhood landscape company. I try to add a few bins a day to my weedy yard to make a mulch. Some goes right into the garden and composter too.

I also had a free hot meal at my food bank and got two free boxes of food plus several bags of misc free produce.

I brought in some slightly rotten produce that was leftover at the food food bank to my friend with a goat and got a quart of free raw goat milk for my kitten.

A decent day - I didn't buy anything. I did do some driving for my local errands, but since I had to pick up some heavy loads of free mulch, i will consider that a decent tradeoff.

I added the mulch to my yard over an old blanket and some large cardboard that I put down as a weed suppressing base. Little by little i will get this yard done! Next year - no burrs, goats heads or foxtails!

i dropped off some more old veggies to my livestock friend and added the really bad stuff to my compost. I am messing around with the compost tea right now to make a foliar spray for my garden and fruit trees, and will mix up the first gallon to use to inoculate the soil.

I also put out a bunch of bins and buckets under my eaves, as it smells like rain and I would like to capture some of that free pure good stuff.

Someone gave me a large container of mashed potatoes with beef stew on top and I am thinking that if i miz it up really well, the cats will eat it. There is much more there than I can consume before it gets bad, bad, and if i can extend out the cat food at all that will be a good thing.

The cats seem to be my biggest non-house, non-utility and non transportation expense. I now have five, plus one black feral sneaks in and eats a share...making six i have to feed...

I need to find a spay and neuter program for the ferals so this constant addition of kittens can stop, at least on my island.

This last week I saved gas money twice on going to class, since someone else drove. That was great! I'll be doing the rest of the driving but it was a good break. I can stretch out my little bit of gas that much longer.
