Thankyou for your article, informative and useful and inspirational in a way - I keep wanting to start with my entrance - which is small enough - but just as often keep on saying later ... later. I am now determined to DO SOMETHING NOW and will go an purchase some paint pots to see what can be what.

Do you give lessons in painting? Maybe this sounds like a silly question, but there are techniques I am sure for DIY thumbs that could prove useful. Still, the Internet beckons too. I shall be back like McArthur said (Arnie too!)

thanks Alison! I have just found you and I am so excited! Planning to put in granite island top by contractor, but to save money want to do granite tiles on counters (L shap 18'x13') I printed an article in HDTV about rounding corners and cutting myself. Is it really possible. I have a wet table saw and have remodeled a prev kitchen with ceramic tile. I also refaced a fireplace with Eldorado stone.

What about the other accessories related to home improvement like knobs handles, cabinet handles, kitchen boxes etc. I thing a modern stuff for these can bring a huge change into our houses.
