So often I hear of abused or abandoned animals choosing their new family. They are able to sense the love and kindness. I wonder what they feel when someone comes to "pick them out;" people that aren't kind and the animals senses it?

It does my heart good to hear these experiences of good and humane people such as each person that has posted on this thread. I get to the point where I see so much abuse I just want to sit and cry but the other half of humanity shows me there is caring and loving people in this world. Thank you for restoring my faith in humanity.

Wow, that is a long life for a rabbit, it goes to show how long their life expectancy could be when raised by loving caring people that know their nutritional requirements. He was a lucky little rabbit, and I think you and your family were also pretty lucky to find such a joy. It sounds like he brought a lot of love to your home.

Diana, I am no longer traveling in the RV. I have a very small cabin and the cats go in and out of that through their kitty door.

They do like the rv though - they were tiny bottle babies in there. they love it when i go sit in there!

I often think about getting an RV and exploring the United States. I could stay home based here where my daughter, son-in-law and granddaughters are but yet not be stuck in one location. It would mean giving up our house to purchase an RV, and once that is done there would be no going back. So, it is a scary decision.

I am also not sure if I could live without a cat. I know my golden year cats wouldn't adjust to the drastic change so we would not be able to do it until after they pass. I think about my folk's cat Sam and his first (and only) trip in our trailer MANY years ago. We got up to Red Bluff, CA, it was 109 degrees. We stopped by the river to check on him. Soon as the door was open he scooted out the door. We finally found him and it was nothing short of a miracle that we did. We found a veterinarian and boarded him, and picked him up on the way home. I believe that was the trip we were going to go camping on Vancouver Island in Canada. We felt he'd be safer in Red Bluff. Anyway, I guess the point of my original question is it possible to RV with a cat that starts out as a small kitten? Where about did you end up settling with your cabin?

I have traveled with some of my cats in the RV before and I also see others doing it. You have to pick out the right kind of cat, I think, or start with kittens.

If you start a thread on this in the RV forum let me know and I will add my suggestions to it! smile

I'll have to do that. I am sure many people would like some advice on RVing with cats.
