Saw this on foxnews.com this morning: National Interest Noise Prompts Pennsylvania Restaurant to Ban Kids Under 6 Published July 09, 2011 | Associated Press MONROEVILLE, Pa.-- A restaurant in western Pennsylvania says it's no longer allowing children under age 6. McDain's Restaurant and Golf Center in Monroeville says the new policy will take effect July 16. Restaurant owner Mike Vuick said there's "nothing wrong with babies, but the fact is you can't control their volume." He said all that screaming and crying disturbs many of his customers. Some restaurant customers said they support Vuick's right to set rules that he thinks are best for his business. But others said they're offended by the policy. Vuick said that children might be the center of their parents' universe, as it should be. But he says they're not the center of everyone else's universe too. Tee hee! I love this! I wish more restaurants would do this. I have a family member who lets her kid run all around restaurants and even take food off strangers' plates. I refuse to go anywhere with her, but my mom has been roped into lunches. The stories she tells would curl your hair.

Wow! This man may end up really lowering his customer base, but I like the idea personally!

Saw this on the news the other day as well and my DH and I both went "Hurray"!! I don't have a problem with kids but I do not go out for dinner with the intention to listen to a child cry (overly, I understand that babies cry) or have a tantrum. If the child is well behaved, I'm fine with that. I agree with the restaurant owner, just because they are the centre of the parents world does not mean they have to be the centre of everyones world. If I am paying a pretty penny for a nice meal, I would like to enjoy it without a screaming child beside me. The way I see it, it's like going to the movies. How annoying is it and how many people complain when adults chatter throughout the film. If it was a child, would it be okay? I don't think so. I wonder if the offended parents would be okay if a romantic dinner, just them and their Spouse, also included a crying child that was not theirs? Well done, Mr. Vuick!! If I lived in your area, I would gladly pick your establishment for dinners out thanks to your new policy ... its the same reason why I more times than not book vacations at Adult Only resorts. :)

I can so relate to this. I like going out to eat, but not to have to deal with someone else's bratty kids, all because of the poor parenting styles that are so rampant today.

If I pulled half of the cr@p that these kids pull when I was a kid, I would have gotten a good butt whooping when I got home and I would not have the pleasure again of eating out for a long time. My parents were strict and I commend them for it. Because of it my sister, brother, and I learned to behave at an early age in stores, restaurants, and within the homes of family and friends.

I would gladly frequent this man's establishment for a nice peaceful meal if I lived in the area. There should be more places like this. I am not against kids at all, just against having to deal with the racket when I want a nice time out. Some of the noise that kids make is just natural and it is fine, but when it gets out of hand I don't want to deal with it.
