Hi Everyone:

When you do sleep when working the 2nd or 3rd shifts?

Some folks go to sleep as soon as they get home and some do stuff then go to sleep.

I have tried it BOTH ways and still fighting the zzzz's at night(lol).

2nd shift at Lance (did it 1 time) 3pm to 11pm
3rd shift (been on it since that 1 time on 2nd/lol) 11pm to 7am.

I do well up until about 2am... Help!!!

Thanks,

I do a lot of night work on the servers, so I can reboot them when most people are asleep. When I'm on that schedule I go to sleep about 8am and then sleep until 4pm or so.

I like working at night, when everything is quiet and peaceful.

Hi Lisa:

Thanks for sharing.

The challenge for me is getting to "sleep"...

And by this I mean, it is like I am sleepy at 2am at work, but when I get home about 7:15am - I am wide awake and ready to do stuff.

Do you just fall asleep?

And doesn't it mix up your schedule when you do different sleep schedules?

Thanks,

There is a guy that goes to sleep each night at 10pm, get up at 1am to head into work. He says he gets 3 hours of sleep and goes to the gym right after work. He did say however that a few days he does go straight home and gets in the bed. I guess that keeps him from burning out.

Hi unemployed:

The gym probably relaxes him. And the reason I say this is that I have started to do my exercise when I get home. After being on my feet all night with just three 15-minute breaks (enough to visit the ladies room, pray there is an empty stall/lol), I need to exercise.

Thanks for stopping by and sharing with us smile

Yep, I remember those nights smile

Walking helped me cope - it is free and you can choose how you want to walk. And by this I mean, as a workout or therapy.

I am into therapy right now at age 52. Used to do the power walk when I was in my 20's(lol).

I still use the city bus in spite of us now having a car that I use at nights for work. That works me out and makes me relaxed and for those times that I have to run to catch the bus - that is my donation to "exercise"... Thank goodness this is not too often as it is too HOT to be running after no bus smile

Find something to do that is free, but you enjoy. While we have not control over being unemployed, as long as we dedicate some time DAILY (including weekends/lol), things have a way of falling in place.

The only positive in being unemployed is that you can get to bed and get up whenever you want to but if you are not careful you become lazy and then the laziness becomes worst and then your internal clock is all screwed up because of the crazy hours you get to bed (this is what happened to me - took a few years - that may be 1 of the reasons why im having an insomnia that does not want to go away).
