I feel blessed and lucky to be CF lately - my neighbor informed me of the VA Vocational Rehab program, and I was approved for the program. My chosen future career was approved by the counselor, and I'm working on writing an education plan right now. I am so lucky that I can prepare to go to college, and not have to worry about child care. My poor neighbor couldn't finish her degree, because her remaining classes are day classes, and she has a young child that needs supervision during the day, and childcare, even for that short time, is dreadfully expensive. She can't afford internet, either, due to the expenses of having two children. I am SO LUCKY!

Was in Target and walked by a newborn and it stunk. Yuck. Glad I'll never have to have one of those, because the perpetual poop/babypowder/cheerios smell is nauseating. Hooray for child-free!

Haha that was one of the funnier responses! For me the most recent is reading my kindle in peace and doting on my hubby. He deserves all of my attention.

EVERY TIME I hear someone say how "hard" it is to be a parent, I am thrilled to not be one. In fact, one of my standard responses these days to: "why don't you want kids?" is "parenting is too hard". Do you know that the only response I have ever gotten is some sort of agreement, never that sideways judgement. Quite effective.

Went to the beach today with my neighbor girlfriend. A family comes and sits next to us and the 8 year old son manages to have a mental breakdown by throwing himself down at his father's feet between sobs and hyperventilation. The parents of course look exhausted and embarrassed as they try to calm him. He proceeds to pout about whatever it was that brought him to such a point of despair by sitting in a little chair sniffling and whining for the next 15 minutes. Then, across the way, another little toddler girl gets scooped up by Daddy because it's time to eat or change a diaper (whatever!) and the blood-curdling screams reach across the expanse of the beach. Ugh.

Napping. It's all about being able to come home from work and climb into bed and have a great 45 minute nap or on weekends in the afternoon to re-boot the system. Every time I get into my bed I think "ahhh... love having NO KIDS".

My spouse & I were in a grocery store the other day. We could hear a small child screaming throughout most of the store. Making our way through the store, we eventually came upon the child and the mother. The mother took the crying child out of the grocery cart and walked with her down the aisle. The child continued to cry and scream. I'm guessing that we continued to hear the wails of the child from some other part of the store for a good 5 minutes longer. Boy did that child have a good set of lungs!

I wish before having children there was a non-HALLMARK video, advertising this or that, and instead a commercial - like one of those reality TV shows as what having kids is really like...I'm talking where the woman hides inside the dryer of her laundry room, with a bottle of Merlot, just to get some peace, quiet and "me" time!

Hi all, there have been many angst ridden posts recently, re the question to have or not to have, kids, so I would just like to counter balance with a more positive post.

It is great to be child free, - and that I don't have any desire to change my life status, - and appreciate what I have in life.
we've just put the pool up for the summer, and it's great to swim every day in the sunshine. it's been a fun week of good times shared with family and friends, and well, that's it really nothing special, just content to be who I am.

I wish you all love and happiness through these summer months, with whatever gives you joy in life.
