i THOUGHT IT MIGHT BE FUN TO MAKE A LIST OF MOMENTS WHEN YOU AND YOUR PARTNER FIND YOURSELVES EXTRA THANKFUL THAT YOU'RE CHILDFREE....THE OTHER NIGHT MY HUSBAND AND I WERE SHOPPING FOR FURNITURE AND PLANTS FOR OUR BALCONY. WE WERE REALLY ENJOYING OURSELVES TALKING, LAUGHING, AND TESTING OUT EACH OF THE BISTRO SETS TO FIND THE MOST COMFORTABLE ONE. ALONG COMES THIS COUPLE WITH TWO LITTLE ONES TRYING TO DO THE SAME THING, EXCEPT THEIR SON STARTED WHINING AND CRYING AND DISTRACTING THEM TO THE POINT THAT THEY COULDN'T EVEN ENJOY THE EXPERIENCE AND HAD TO LEAVE....MY HUSBAND AND I JUST LOOKED AT EACH OTHER AND SMILED..EVEN SMALL AND SIMPLE MOMENTS TOGETHER, THINGS THAT WE TAKE FOR GRANTED, COUPLES WITH CHILDREN OFTEN CANNOT DO WITHOUT FRUSTRATION AND STRESS. SHARE YOUR RANDOM MOMENTS...

Have had many similar moments. Other day at Trader Joes we were going through the isles getting items we needed and then saw a mother with 4 children (all looked to be under the age of 6 - one was an infant) in tow...she looked so exhausted! Her cart was piled high and the kids were all screaming and pulling at here. We looked at each other and did our usual joke: "So, what..60?" and the reply is always "No, I told you 80!" Sigh...it is SOOOO wonderful to be child free and VERY much plan on staying that way! Also, pretty much anytime we just want to go somewhere, a walk, to the store, etc. we can just, well...GO! No packing up kids, snacks, hauling them to the car, getting them into car seats, driving to the place with them screaming away. Getting there, unloading, having them bug you for everything...NO THANK YOU!!! Love just being able to have the freedom to at a drop of a hat go somewhere with no fuss or time involved...Yeah for being child free!!! :D

I actually never thought of what getting out of the house, and travelling would be like with kids..I'm ready to have an anxiety attack just reading about it...haha! Seriously, no wonder why so many parents seem perpetually exhausted.

One of my co-works told me (he has two kids) and other co-workers who have children seconded this...that anytime you want to go anywhere, prepare for at least 30 minutes of prep time! He also said one time his family decided on the spur of the moment to go to the beach...he said it took 1 1/2 hours for everyone to get ready! By the time everyone was ready, the day was nearly over and it wasn't worth going! We can be ready for such things in under 10 minutes! LOVE IT!! :D

On cold weekend mornings when it's 7am and I DON'T HAVE TO GET UP WITH A BABY and can stay in bed under the warm covers for as long as I want. Delightful!

Went to a theme park with some friends. One of them has 3 kids, all under 6. This isn't going where you think it is. The kids were fine, as well behaved as any child could be. However, due to their sizes, they couldn't go on any of the rides. Their mom and dad kept trading off, one goes on a ride the other stays with the kids. Being able to scream in delight on a roller coaster with my husband: priceless. :)

Nights like tonight when I just want to watch movies as long as I can stay awake. I've been studying and doing homework most of the day, and I want a break (nevermind the 42 break I got with my boyfriend and my parents; that one doesn't count because I had to use my brain to play, lol).

I love that I can quit my full-time job to go back for my Masters degree and not worry about how I'm going to feed and clothe my children. I love that I can sleep mostly uninterrupted (unless a cat or dog wakes me). I love that I can cook what I want to eat and don't have to worry about anyone whining about it (except for myself because I'm a horrible cook a lot of the time, lol).

I do have anxiety about my niece and nephew though. They're teens, and I find myself worrying about them when I see a news report about an accident or when I hear sirens outside my window. I worry because they both have their driver's licenses now, and even though they know not to use cell phones while driving, well, they're teens. Ya know? So I worry. I can't imagine how much more I'd worry if I were their parent. It's hard enough just being their aunt.

This is my list of moments:

1-when we're cuddling and watching tv, there's no one to bother us during our "aww" time.
2-when we argue (which is so rare though), I'm glad there is no kid in the middle of it all watching us argue.
3-when we go for brunch, it's so romantic, but I don't think the couple in the next table with 2 kids yelling and crying is having a romantic "date".
4-when we go shopping for groceries (which we both hate to do), we have no kid to drag around. I think we would hate it even more!
5-we can have sex anywhere anytime in the house and not worry about a kid watching us.

I have so many more moments, like 6,582 more of them.

Hubbie and I are doing Disney World in May. We're doing it POSH, full of adult stuff: Roller coasters that WE want to ride Romantic fireworks cruises Dinners at expensive restaurants Couples massage at the spa we can afford to stay at NO character dining therefore no worrying about lines to see Snow White Traveling there while school is in session so we can avoid the busy season No kids crying that they just want to swim in the pool and don't want to see anything Winking at eachother when a nearby kid throws a tantrum and squats down to the cement at Epcot and won't move Vacays are SWEET when you're childfree!
