Hi! As a born and bred Brit, I am used to Hugh Laurie playing comedy - with Stephen Fry in 'A Bit Of Fry and Laurie', or with a falsetto voice in Blackadder. Does anyone think he makes a convincing (gruff voiced and miserable!) American in House?

Monroe medical drama reworks House

Yes I love House, and I think he nails the accent. It is amazing how many people watch House and don't realize that naturally he talks with a British accent smile

Oh my giddy G - girls - Joy especially. I have looked at the link and I absolutely will tell my boy, my teenage son, who so loves Hugh Laurie, and in particular as House - that he is now a blues musician! For so long I have asked my son - is it really that authentic? Genuine? English upper class Hugh Laurie as miserable yank House? - to which he has replied - mum - who cares? Authenticity schmischity - it's House! And I am now so with the 'programme' (in every sense of the word) - I just heard his blues, and it is just...like...so cool. And of course - no one could doubt his acting. But - he can really rock it. Yeah?
And believe me I don't want to sound pretentious, just appreciative.

As House he is overbearingly droll. I just adore him in that role.

I started watching it, because I'm fascinated by medical research and rare or mis-diagnosed illnesses, but I kept watching it for the character. How does he pull off being such a complete butt-head, yet so thoroughly loveable at the same time???

Hi Les! Absolutely, you got it. Overbearingly droll. But just check out the 'blues' link that Joy posted. The man so wants to express his artistic, 'loose' and cool side. And you know, I think - I may just buy it...!!

Ha ha - Maria Romana - well yeah???!!! How does he do that? I honestly felt inclined to be cynical for so long, as in - what, honestly? Hugh Laurie - side kick to Stephen Fry? Almost, who does he think he is? A serious/brilliant US medical drama?

Until my son said - OK mum, pipe down, pay attention - it's really bloody good! And of course. It's really bloody (understatement) good.
