Research has shown that physical exercise is the best tension reliever. It is a very important remedy for stress. Nothing eases stress more than exercise. Exercise, when property d
Physically, exercise improves your cardiovascular functions by strengthening and enlarging the heart, causing greater elasticity of the blood vessels, increasing oxygen throughout your body, and lowering your blood levels of fats such as cholesterol and triglycerides. All of this, of course, means less chance of developing heart conditions, strokes, or high blood pressure.

I often use deep breathing, sitting quietly with everything turned off. I also meditate and pray. Sometimes my mind is so preoccupied by the cares of the day until my meditation turns into a grocery list. I've thought about "chanting" to keep myself focused on relaxing, but I'm concerned about chanting words I don't fully understand :-)

Get lots of sleep. Try to get in bed early. I also do breathing exercises. It really helps.

Thanks for the article as it provides some good basic and trustworthy suggestions. I agree with alicia that meditation is the best way to quiet the emotions, however there are days when I may not have the time for the meditation which snowballs into increased stress - lol! In those situations I try a "flip it" technique. It is fast and simple. Take the thought or situation that is "causing" the stress and reverse it mentally. An example is if you have a deadline that is pressuring you, instead think-I love that this project will be wrapped up by..., then I will be free to ..., or say my colleague is annoying as heck, you can flip it by saying things like, well I love blank about so and so etc. The power of our mind is so amazing and yet we often overlook this immediate free and simple stress reducer. Your perspective shapes your experiences so "flip it" friends.

It certainly pays to take time out for sports or just to simply relax.
