It's frustrating that I can no longer simply call a business and that there's so much secrecy regarding the online application process. I hate writing "To Whom it May Concern" cover letters and the job hunt would be much easier if I could simply pitch myself in person or on the phone rather than sending a generic letter through a website

2.Become a Walking �For Hire� Banner
It can be intimidating to put a banner around your neck and walk on a busy street.
3.Create a Business Card That Serves as a Resume
It is much easier to hand out business cards than it is to hand out a full size resume.

I used to work at a big company and as an admin for various levels of management was aware that items marked private or confidential remained so until it was in their office. So marking your mail in that way may still help.
