I just don't get it why it is so difficult to say to the kid "I" instead of "Mommy". For sure he/she knows who's the Mommy! So why say it 10,000 times? It's such baby-talk if you ask me.
Weird, I don't see men doing the same thing, at least not when telling a story to someone else.
Very little kids, 1-2 year olds, understand you better if you talk in the third person, I mean talking in terms od "Mom/ Dad" and "Kid's name", instead of "I" and "you". Other than that, some people just like to brag a little about the fact that they have children.
