Yeah, sadly it's true - there's been quite a lot of trailers on over here in the UK - I don't know how it's going to go down - the script and "twist" ending is dreadful, but they've taken a lot of iconic scenes which some young ppl wont have seen and others will be curious about.

Well thank-God, it was as awful as everyone knew it would be - though how they could get a movie that they had a blue print layed out for them, so wrong, is beyond me. Hopefully that'll be the end of it now. The critics and fans have ripped it to shreds, so lets hope theres no sequel - or if there is, Platinum Dunes are not involved and Wes Craven or Robert Englund are...

I am late in responding, but as a Freddy fan, I had to go see it. They DO portray him as a molester in this film. They tried to put some key scenes in from the original but I felt like they were forced and it would have been better if they had just done something original instead. The ONE thing I did like better in this movie that I do not remember in the first was the researching they did into sleep deprivation and how the longer they went without sleep the more likely it would be that they would fall into a coma like state, which is what Freddy was actually wanting them to do so they would not be able to wake up. Other than explaining that well, imo, the rest was meh.

Yeah, I liked the idea of the micro-naps, but they didn't explore it enough - the same with the brain staying awake for 8 minutes after you die. The micro-naps were in the original MIchelle, I don't know if you remember the scene with Nancy and Freddy's tongue coming out of the phone? There were a few things like that where Nancy is saying "But I'm awake!" so - they had it in there, but they didn't actually say what it was. To me, the guy playing Freddy was acting exactly the same as he did in Watchmen - and like you said, mixing scenes from the original just didn't work at all. The worst thing for me, was how they took one of the strongest slasher movie heroines (Nancy) and made her very weak, where as the original Nancy (Heather Langenkamp) relied on no-one but herself. This Nancy had to rely on her boyfriend, even at the end - she pulled Freddy out of the dream and screamed "Quentin, get him!" LOL - it seems we're moving backwards with strong women/girls in the horror franchise - which is a terrible shame, worse than the new Freddy's CGI make-up LOL smile

A Nightmare on Elm Street without Englund is just not a nightmare. He made Freddy what he is -- insanely scary.

I actually didn't mind the remake of Chainsaw.

Yeah, I thought the Chainsaw re-make was a better film than the original. It was really scary - where as the original was just screaming - and you can't really waste the effort on screaming when you're running for your life. But yeah, it was good. Fans of the original Chainsaw will point out though that it missed the point of the entire film with the re-make because it was meant to be so realistic and in your face. Visceral.
