Speaking of priorities, I'm sitting down this afternoon with a big desk calendar and mapping out my priorities for the rest of the year - it's hard to believe but there are only five months left in 2009.

I'm feeling like I have a lot of irons in the fire and I need to begin to shift, sort and prioritize. Some days I need to sit back and realize there are only 24 hours in a day!

Anyone else doing the same?

I agree completely Sharon, that is such a useful exercise to do every once in a while! You can get wrapped up in doing things that really are not part of your life plan. It's good to take stock of that.

My priorities are enjoying nature and the outdoors and being physically fit. However, I think that the most important things in life are stretching and growing as a person; caring about others, being able to laugh at yourself and taking time for all the intangibles.

Those are great priorities Reshma, they make so much sense! Definitely growing and learning and stretching are critical for each of us as human beings smile

I tend to get chased by the "What If" monster quite a bit. From time to time he catches me! I get too bogged down with what I can/should/hope to do that I lose track of the here and now. So, my personal priorities would have to be:

Stay focused on what I'm doing at the moment (and enjoy it!)

Make one positive change every day even if it's the tiniest thing

Maintain the closeness of family and friends I love so much

Create a time budget that allows me to accomplish the following:

1) Finish what I honestly can finish within one 24 hour period

2) Have time leftover for recreation

Looking at the list it seems to be right for me. They're my priorities but not my goals. Priorities that help me reach my goals and feel great about life along the way are what I'm finding are the most important to me of all.

Hi,
I started the first day of this year with a year planner as I'm habituated to do this since I was 13 years old; inspiration-- Dale Carnegie. But I couldn't set my goal.

I need to take intensive care for my two children. My first child was born earlier and needs special attention; she is hyper active. Second one is two months old; he is also premature, he is anemic, his lungs were not fully developed. But now he is OK. I'm suffering from anemia and obesity. I needed C-section to deliver both children. And my doctor said that the first c-section was not done correctly( first one was done by another doctor)and as a result my uterus, bladder, colon,intestine are all joined with each other with some other layers( I don't know what really it means).In future, any operation to these organs will be very risky; but now, it won't do much problem,she said.

I know a lot of people are out there with more problems than me, still I think these problems will not let me step forward for a year or, two. But I love to dream.My dream is,

#To establish a charity organization which will run school and hospital for under privileged children and people with moderate income. This organization will also work to create social awareness to save our environment.

My Priorities are,

*me and my children.
*sound health( both physical and psychological)
*charity

My goal

::Though I have to pay huge loan for the apartment I bought I have decided to quit my job(I am a teacher).

:: I'll concentrate on my passion--writing,reading, singing,gardening, painting, crafting and charity.

:: I want to reduce my weight.

:: I want to start home based job.I'll search BellaOnline at first to get knowledge to start home based business/job( any suggestion?).

Thank you Lisa for your email. At last I woke up and thought about myself.....my priorities.

Wow, Farjana, you do have a full plate! But it seems like you're on the right track!

I have tons of articles on home business ideas on the SOHO website. Business Ideas

There are also articles on figuring out what business would work best for you. If you start with this one: Finding the Small Business for you and follow the link at the bottom of it and the next one, those three articles should help you come up with some ideas that would suit you.

If you have questions, feel free to post in the SOHO forum!

Good Luck!

Nancy those are great priorities! They all seem quite doable, too!

I find it really helps to write them down and post them by my monitor. That way I keep them in mind, and remember to re-focus if I start to stray!

Farjana - I love your priorities! It sounds like you have a lot of very important things on your plate but I do also think that things like YOUR health need to be important too. If you were to get sick, you wouldn't be able to care well for your children any more. So it is just as important that you stay healthy, for the family's sake.

Deb's site is an AWESOME resource for getting your business goals met!

I was just looking at my priorities again -

* helping others
* helping others help themselves
* being more healthy
* finding serenity

I think I want to add to that

* keep learning

I think it is so important to keep learning new skills so that you can better help others. I might be using "old knowledge" without knowing it, when better techniques have been created. So I think that is important to add into there.

Once you have your priorities set, move on to the

Five Year Goals!
