Walking across a street is dangerous especially if you are not in a crosswalk. Riding maybe a little more dangerous than driving a car but you can lessen the chances of harm by taking a riding course, practice your skills, and wearing the proper gear. Also be extra vigilant when turning left in front of oncoming traffic.

Just wanted to add my 2cents.

Like any activity, riding is dangerous. Mostly not because of what you control, but what you don't: Bad drivers, bad roads, and bad equipment. If it was just yourself, you can control how fast you go and ride faster as your skills improve. How dangerous depends on where you ride. Freeway during rush hour in a rain storm while you are lane splitting, then you are asking for it. However, if you ride in closed track with other riders, good road, good visibility, then you chances of getting hurt greatly diminishes.

I used to ride until my kids came along and I decided to stop riding. Like Claybird, I am waiting until my kids are old enough to take care of themselves and I will be back on 2 wheels.

If you decide to ride, ride safely and wisely. God bless.

every vehicle runnig on road is dangerous i guess , if not driven withn 100% concentration. bikes are not an exception to this. motorcyclist tend to play with bike that's where i feel it becomes more accident prone.
