Sometimes as we get older, it's also about being set in our ways and not wanting to conform to the dating "rules" or learning another partner's habits. I remember when I was first back to "dating" after becoming newly single again, I would jump to answer the phone everytime it rang. It took awhile, but I had to get over that habit, it reeked of desperation (to me anyway). Now that I'm technically no longer "single -single", that has again become the biggest issue because I don't jump to answer the phone when he calls. I tell you, there is just no winning sometimes...lol...
