I just start to play tennis, but don't have good shoes for it.

Before I spend money on the wrong ones, does anyone have recommendations for good tennis shoes? What should I look for in searching for a good pair?

Thanks.

Hi, Cara. Ones with good arch support and support for the balls of your feet. It's also important to know your foot type since everyone has a different one. Playing tennis, I need shoes that will help me with my balance. So that's another thing to consider and oh, yeah, go to a reputable store. Every salesperson doesn't know what the heck they are doing other than wearing the uniform and shop in the evening. Our feet swell as the day progresses, so this is a good time to get a shoe with a perfect fit. Hope this helps. Keep swinging at those balls and happy harvest.

Good tennis shoes are one of the most important pieces of tennis equipment for any level player. Of course everyone is different, so you need to find something that is comfortable for you, and offers good support. Most familiar brand names have several different styles. For extra protection around your ankle, you can try the mid-height shoes. If you need extra width, some manufacturers offer wide. To find the best fit for you, you'll need to try on several pairs of shoes. Remember to wear socks similar to those you will be playing tennis in. It's generally a good idea to break in a new pair of shoes by wearing them for a few practice sessions before playing a real match.
