Someone brought up this point in another post. An example of a grown adult trying to live vicariously through their kids: It is beyond sad when parents somehow feel they never fulfilled some goal or something and get crazy at their kids games. I am talking about little kids. Parents in the stands swearing and even throwing punches at other parents?? Let the kids be kids and just play for crying out loud!! They would just go out there and have fun- now they have to get embarrassed or even unfortunately gain enemies because your mom swore at my mom... This seriously happened at my nephew's little league games!! DISGUSTING!!

Thing is too, the kid/s may not WANT to follow YOUR dreams because they have THEIR OWN! Which makes it even MORE unfair!

I recently saw a movie on TV an 80s one I think called "Making Mr Right." A Scientist who loves space & is NOT very social or into social interactions makes an android who looks identical to him. His plan is for the android to go and explore space - no social interactions - for 7 years because that's what HE wanted to do. Instead however, the android falls in love with the first woman he sees and only wants to be with her. In the end, the scientist who made him goes to space for 7 years & is very happy & the android stays with the woman he loves & is very happy. But it reminded me of parents who try to push their dreams onto their kids - who may have very different dreams of their OWN - instead of following their OWN dreams! And like the android & the scientist, just cos that kid may LOOK like you DOESN'T automatically mean they ARE like you in personality, interests & abilities.
