Did you guys see the ad for Yoplait that is running now? The women are all talking about how great the yogurt is, how it's wonderful and like this and that and the other thing. Then they end with

"not catching the bouquet good!"

and they're all happy about it - about staying single smile

I think it really is an indication of how far we've come - that women prize their independence and can be content on their own!

I thought it was a bit odd. I always wanted to catch it. But it took til i was 34 before anyone was willing to marry me. I guess i am just a loser that way. frown

I got married 8 months ago and I didn't toss the bouquet. I always hated being shoved up there when I was single so I resolved never to do it at my wedding. Instead we did an Anniversary Dance where the DJ had all the married couples come to the dance floor. As they danced he'd say "If you've been married less than a year, sit down" and so on until the last couple left (the one married the longest) got my bouquet. It was my husbands aunt and uncle, married 54 years!

Jilly - you're not a loser at all!! Are you saying that you wanted to catch it so that the guy you were dating at the time would finally say he wanted to marry you? Or are you saying that you weren't necessarily dating anyone and you just wanted to be "married" vs single?

That's a lovely idea Sue! I've seen weddings before where they did the anniversary dance but never where they got a bouquet prize!

well i always wanted to be married. So the second thing you said. And now that I am married I know why - i love being married! I love being a team with my best friend. being single was not so good for me.

Anyway, at our wedding i had decided who to toss the bouquet to way ahead of time. You have to pick that person carefully, someone who would LIKE to get it, be THRILLED to get it, and would not be embarrassed. So that is what I did and she was happy. I thought everyone did this?

We also had DH remove my garter (with his teeth, heehee) and he tossed it to the single men. So the one who caught it got to award the girl who caught the bouquet by placing it on HER leg. It was great fun and we all enjoyed that game. smile
