Dr Calum MacKellar, director of research at the Scottish Council on Human Bioethics, wants a law passed preventing human sperm being inseminated into animals. He considers that chimpanzees and humans are closely enough related to result in a hybrid being born. He said if the process was not banned, scientists would be "very likely" to try it.
"The Human Fertilisation and Embryo Bill prohibits the placement of animal sperm into a woman but MacKellar say's it doesn't go far enough.

How about this for a position?

If animals have their rights too, then maybe until the chimps debate it, and then agree that they actually do want to cross-breed with us, do we really have the right to force them too! smile Historically, as an enlightened species, we don't really hold a very good track record. They might want to consider other alternatives!

I'm outta here before you boot me out. laugh

I only posted the article because I thought it was interesting. I actually think that there should be a law against it, because sooner or later someone is going to try it, and yes, I do support animal rights! whistle

So here is a link to an article about an upright walking chimpanzee named Oliver.

Oliver created world wide interest in 1976 because of his humanlike behaviour, preferring to walk on hindlegs, sit cross legged on a chair, help with chores around the house, etc. He also very humanoid in appearance due to possessing a small bald head and reduced prominence of the jaws. It was thought that he was a Humanzee or some sort of mutant.

Blood tests were carried out in Japan in the 70's and it was found that Oliver had 47 chromosomes. Humans have 46 whilst chimps have 48.

In 1996,DNA testing done by Chicago University geneticist Dr David Ledbetter revealed that Oliver had 48 chromosomes.
DNA analysis expert Dr John from Texass Trinity University also concluded that Oliver had 48, hereby proving that Oliver was in fact a chimp and was not a mutant or a humanzee.

Below is an amazing article about how the collagen in the pig bladder supposedly regrew the top of a finger!!!

[i][b]Now scientists in America believe the pig bladder "potion" may lead to an extraordinary breakthrough in regenerative medicine that could re-grow fingers, toes and limbs and even one day help replace damaged parts of hearts and spinal cords and heal wounds and burns with new skin instead of scar tissue.

Hey Gaye,

I watched a program about 2 tys ago about some chap that had to have his [censored] amputated because of cancer, and how this doctor had succeeded in making him a new one by grafting on one of his fingers and then bulking it out somehow.

I'm trying to find a link to an article about it. If I do I'll post it for you. It was quite remarkable...the program, not the [censored]!
