This is a very basic exercise designed to strengthen ones basic skills in meter.

Iambic Pentameter: di-DUM di-DUM di-DUm di-DUM di-DUM

A great example of a poem that almost exclusively utilizes IP is Sylvia Plath's Mad Girl's Love Song for reference.

Other Examples:

The girl in white is running past the lake.

I think I made you up inside my head.

I'm full of beans and everybody knows.


The Object? An ongoing poem written in iambic pentameter. Each of us contribute one line, as many times as you care to, using the line above yours as a jumping off point.

I shall begin the madness.

Yesterday, I heard the strangest thing

GO!
