Well Easter was always tied in with spring fertility rites so it was about fresh bread, fresh treats, so whatever the treat of the time was, they ate it. So I found a site that says in the 1800s when chocolate began to invade Europe as an "exotic treat" (cocoa having come over from the Americas) that it naturally became the treat desired at Easter too

So there's a long history there!
Bob amused me greatly, I had four hard boiled eggs in the fridge and he took some food coloring and colored them for me!!
