How do you keep creating, even when your quilt space gets messy? We'd love to share some tips for keeping quilting, without freaking out over the mess!! Looking forward to hearing from you.

I don't quilt, but I have a room with my beading stuff in it and my hubby says it looks like a tornado hit that room. I find I can create more and find things easier when it is a mess. I think it helps your creativity. I just shut the door when the mess is too much and that works for me!

I agree, that's the secret. Have a space that's comfortable to you and shut the door!

I also do beadwork, plus I have yarns and other bits and pieces of craft projects, and my craft room looks pretty messy most of the time.

My mom quilts and her dream was to have a room for quilting. She had big cabinets put in for all her material, a big counter to do cutting and all that. She loves it. Of course with all that space for material, she's gathered up more than she'll ever use in this lifetime-lol.

I think your husband has been talking to mine conniem, it's exactly what he says! It's good if you can shut the mess off when unexpected visitors arrive - I'm pretty lucky to be able to do that also.

Keep on creating!!

My sister and I went to a Bead Fair this weekend and so I had cleaned up my beading room before I left. My sister and I don't live in the same state and so we don't see each other often. She spent the night last night and by the time she left the bead room was a disaster lol. We didn't even create, just looked! I did come home with lots more beads! Also I won a lampwork bead in the hourly drawing and my sister won a minature set of beading tools. We had a great time.

I live in a very small apartment, less than 500 sq. ft., with my boyfriend. We have basically 2 rooms, a bedroom and a livingroom. I like to quilt and I just did one for Christmas. I try to keep everything consolidated to keep the place looking halfway decent. The hardest part is that I don't have a big enough floor space to spread out the whole quilt. I just rolled it up and did a bit at a time. You can quilt with no space! Oh, and I cut everything on my cutting mat on the kitchen floor, which is about 3' x 5' workspace, AHHH!

I find it's a bit easier (although not half as fun) to clean up and put away after each project, especially since I quilt, sew, scrapbook, bead, crochet, and paint in the same room. Granted it's a large room - 12 1/2 x 28ft - but if I don't clean up after each project, the mess gets out of hand and I get overwhelmed. I also have 3 large trashcans and 3 small counter-top trashcans, as well as boxes here and there for scraps. It helps tremendously.

Hope this helps.
