ITV have now showed 2 of their 3 new Jane Austen adaptations. First off was "Mansfield Park". Billie Piper (Rose on Doctor Who) played Fanny, the lead character. On the whole, this was an okay adaptation of it - I'm just not sure if I liked Billie as Fanny. I think her hair was all wrong, and I guess I just kept seeing her as Rose and expecting the Doctor to pop up. I can't remember the other (movie)version of Mansfield Park that came out several years ago very well, so I can't compare them.

Last week they showed "Northanger Abbey". I liked this one much better than Mans.Park. Liked the actors and actresses, and liked the dialogue. Lots of it took place in Bath, and of course the Abbey. Andrew Davies wrote the screenplay (he also wrote Pride and Prejudice - the Colin Firth version, Bleak House, Daniel Deronda and whole slew of other great tv shows).

Next up is a new version of "Persuasion". Can't wait for it, though wonder how it will measure up to the greatness that was the 1996 version with Amanda Root and Ciaran Hinds. I've watched that movie at least 10 times, maybe more, so the new one will have be pretty good to even compare!
