Farquarte will finally be free to come and go when the Royal Council ratifies their treaty freeing the Magical People of Tenesmus. Yet, after months of empty promises, Farquarte's still confined to his dragon reserve.

After accidently ingesting gold Farquarte becomes drunk, escaping the reserve, kidnapping the Ranger and going on a feeding frenzy at the expense of a local farmer. When he awakens from his drunken rampage he is under arrest. The Ranger is missing and presumed dragon-fodder.

Farquarte can't remember whether he ate the Ranger or not. He doesn't remember much of what happened after he escaped the confines of the dragon reserve. Farquarte is accused of Murder.

When Farquarte pleads not guilty. Fechum the Dragon steps in to defend him. But the Prosecutor has witnesses, evidence and Farquarte's bad habit of eating Royal Guards. Will Farquarte be found guilty and executed? Will Fechum get his dragon's hoard if he does? And, what happened to the Ranger? Find out why some compare Hawes to Xanth and some to the Mythadventures series!
