I read today that British airways does not allow its employees to wear cross. This is quite surprising.

I think ALL religious symbols should be banned at work, keep god out of the secular world! However, BA does allow people of other faiths to wear their religious symbols so it is unfair not to let this woman wear her cross.

To be a secualr country means to give equal respect to all religions. Does that mean to keep religion out of public life?
BA allows Sikhs to wear turbans and Muslims to wear burqua.

Despite what you say, religion can not be kept away from public life.

I really don't see what the harm is. Simply wearing a cross is not proselytization. And anyone who doesn't want me to serve them simply because they're so biased against Christians that they don't want to associate with them can just go unserved then.

I agree with you.

If UK is so much secular, then the queen who is the head should not openly practise Christianity. But she is rightly doing it. A secular societry does not mean that no religious symbol should be allowed. a secular society means that all religions are same for the state. To ask somebody not to wear cross in a country where the queen is head of the church is?

The UK is a secular society. The Queen is the Defender of the Christian faith, but quite honestly few really give a four X about that. If Charles becomes king he wants to be Defender of ALL faiths.

In a secular society all religions get equal respect and all are allowed to practise their religion freely.

This is disgraceful, as a Christian I am angry that BA have taken this action (will they stop all other employees wearing any symbols or clothing that reflect their religion) What happened to freedom and democracy too? You should be ashamed of yourselves! I would call on every christian in BA and otherwise to wear their crosses in support of this poor lady...what will they do? Sack you all? How pathetic BA really is. Very annoyed and will raise this further and the profile of such stupid PC correctness. God bless her!!!!!!!!!!

All religions should have the freedom to wear their symbols in a secular society. To be secular does not mean that one gives away one's religion. I support the lady who wants to wear the cross.
