OK, here's my 2 cents. I regularly visit crochet blogs listed at the yarntomato site, and other crochet and craft blogs around the net. i've picked up some really neat patterns, and learned a few things too. what i am really sick and tired of, is having to weed through some one's personal political opinions to get to the crochet, one blog owner listed there loves to sprinkle her blog with foul language (and i mean really foul language). I emailed Donna (yarntomato) and asked her if she has any guidelines on foul language in blogs that she lists on her site. i think a "crochet/craft blog" should be just that. there are plenty of places for pundits, spin doctors, and arm-chair warriors to have their say, and their 15 minutes of fame. i'm getting tired of reading that i must be a moron, i'm afraid, or uninformed because of the candidate that I may have voted for, being grouped with all the others who supported the same candidate that I did. yes, one 'crochet' blogger actually says that. we're all "morons", to borrow her word. all I want is a new pattern or two, or read how others are getting on with their projects. in a subtle way, its taking advantage of the situation. they get us there for the crochet, only to project their political opinions on us, and insult our intellegence in the process. Of course, once i encounter this i never go back to that blog. but it seems like nearly every one i've visited in the last few days has had the same subject matter, and very little of it is crochet. i respect all opinions, and i would never call everybody on the oposing end "morons" in a public forum. alright, i'm done.

First and formost...CONGRATULATIONS on your promotion!! :rolling: Extra money is always nice!

As for the blogs, it would be nice to have a crochet blog just a crochet blog.
Save the politics and such for another blog.

i had to compete for it, and its been a long road (about two months in the making with all the red tape)coming, but it's finally over. i even had to interview! there were four of us that made the final cut, and two dropped out at the last minute (didn't want to relocate to this area), so it came down to two of us. and as our friend bagpipes said..."more money=more yarn!" and maybe a new used car for mom...

as for the blogs, i think its "my time" and other wise i'd probably let it roll off....just get tired of having to swim through all the muck to get to the good stuff. then right before i left work i got the confirmation that i'd been selected, and it was much better

I'm with you on the crochet / knitter blogs. I just want the craft stuff I don't care for all their 'personal' stuff.

Congrats on your promotion - just think of all the new yarn.

I have a blog of mine own and while I don't use foul language, I did post my opinions about the election. Just because I have a crochet blog does not mean that I can not post about anything else but crochet. Blogs are basically journals and are started by individuals who want to either share things with others or just get some stuff off their minds. I use mine as both. If all you want are patterns then maybe you should visit just pattern sites instead of personal blogs.

definition of a blog

n: Slang term for a weblog. A Web log, for the uninitiated, is a popular and fairly personal content form on the Internet. A persons Web log is almost like an open diary. It chronicles what a person wants to share with the world on an almost daily basis.

I do agree about the foul language though....I don't think it should be allowed on blogs but people can express themselves as the wish and I just don't visit those sites again.

hi congratulations on your promotion butterfly, way to go, i kinda agree about the blogs, but also think that because it is ones personal site that if they wish to have other information on it its their business, but i hate when foul language is used. i think people are so immune to hearing it that they think nothig of using it. and there is really ever a appropraite place to use it, although sometimes i am realllllllly tempted like was said about the bad drivers!!!LOL but maybe if people had a link just for the crochet or craft part of the blog and one didn't have to wade through all of the other stuff it wouldn't be so bad. either way i guess it works for someone!!!!! just my 2 cents. merwyn
