I too recently went to a baby shower and left feeling attacked, uncomfortable and completely humiliated. In the middle of the mom-to-be opening her gifts I was suddenly besieged by everyone at the shower with the dreaded question of "when are YOU having a baby?". I politely but firmly said, "luckily in this day and age having a baby isn't the only goal for women. My husband and I want to travel, have successful careers and own a home." I was trying not to insult the mom-to-be and the choice she made. After all, I was there supporting her decision although different from mine. However, her pregnancy was a "surprise" and she's still trying to adjust to the idea. They're forceful questions not only humiliated me but also caused embarrassment for her.
I will not go to another baby shower!
