Contrary to popular belief---and what they'll even tell you in the pet stores---Goldfish will most likely die in a bowl. Bettas get a lot of their oxygen by their ability to breathe air from the top of the bowl. Goldfish need their water to move so they can get their air that way. That's the simple way to explain it. I hate to tell you this, but if you want your goldfish to live, you'll have to go out and buy a tank with at least an airstone or something. And goldfish grow. You need 10 gallons of water PER FISH. You can probably go to your local pet store and get a basic set-up for under $20. The good news is that unless your house is really cold, they don't need a heater. They're cold water fish. So, if your betta is fine at room temperature, your goldfish will be fine. Google "goldfish" and you'll find tons of sites that give you a lot of basic info. I'm sure there are other people on this site who can also offer you some info. How about a goldfish area? Good luck!
