I like kids on the whole. I think they're cute, and of course, society would be in a bit of trouble without them. Also, I do appreciate certain attributes that can really only be found in children--honesty, innocence, being kind of awestruck with the world around them. Those are qualities that it's a shame that people have to lose. I also wonder if my reluctance to have children (I really haven't made up my mind about the subject)isn't due, in part, to the way children seem to consume the lives of their parents. I'm sure there are exceptions to this (so please no hate mail!) but it does seem like all of a sudden the T.V. is ruled by Spongebob and Cookie Monster and you trade in that sweet ride for a minivan with Big Bird static stickers. Plus, I'm not sure if there is any more horrifying sound this side of hell than a baby crying.
