Hello everyone!

I know, I've been gone a loong time and I have much to catch up on. the story goes like this...

I went on vacation to Florida for Thankgiving and I left my fishies in the care of a now ex-friend. She failed to care for my fish and they became ill. I eventually had to euthanize both Twinky and Mimosa, the two remaining fish from my zoo. Snail also had a falling out with a huge crack in his shell from falling.

I haven't wanted to deal with fishies subjects for a while because of this. It was very sad for us here. But, now is the time I must get back into the swing of things again.

Also, good news! I have a 95% chance of getting a job in the reptile and aquatics section of PetCo in Beverly Hills!! Getting a job at any of the PetCos near me has been an idea rolling around in my head and by stroke of luck I walked in at just the right time.

I'm sure everyone here is well aware of the poor quality of help andservice observed in most aquatics departments of major chain stores. I too was bothered and decided to take a part timer to educate. turns out people in this are very squimish about the reptiles and small "rat-like" critters. so I think a little community education is in store!

I'll keep you posted if I get the job in a few days. right now I have much reading and catching up to do.

Nice avatar Jill! reminds me of some pics I have of myself climbing in sedona.

ENJOY!!

HEY MEL ! Welcome back !

I'm sorry about your disappointment with the fish. It's hard to leave them in the care of another...but if you want to have a life outside of home...it's a situation that's bound to come up sooner or later. Taking care of fish is a tricky thing, especially if you don't really know what your doing..lol..

I have to leave mine in care of a friend next month for a week...and I have a tank of baby rams that I'm a bit concerned about...but I will not sweat it...I know this lady isn't as knowledgeable as I am and I'll do my best to show her what to do....but if something happens I'm not going to get upset about it. She'll probably feel as badly as I will, if not worse.....oO(she's more important than the fish...she's more important than the fish...she's mor......) lol...she has a few fish of her own and she's interested in learning more. We have even talked a little bit about starting an aquarium club with another friend who is also interested.

I don't have anyone who knows fish as much as I do to care for them and she's willing and happy to help..we're going to visit my dad during the kid's April vacation. I'll have her over a few times to go through the routine with her..and leave lots of instructions as well. We'll see how it goes...again...I'm not sweating it !!!

hey mel
id be worried about working at petco...they have so many lawsuits right now. i read an article about them and havent shopped there since. they sell marshall farms ferrets too.
i had thought about that, as well, but there are some real pieces of work at the local petco. plus, i couldnt stand all of the dead animals around. i just wish they trained their employees enough. and i wish they cared about life.
there is a funny engravement at PETCO park in san diego that PETA put up. i think every first letter of the words spells PETCO SUCKS.

i would watch out for management. they are trained to keep profit in mind over life. i just hope it doesnt make you jaded; unfortunately, that is a casualty of life.

i am very sad to hear about your babies. some people have no sense. (((*comfort*))) <-- thats the best i can do
