Jenna, I also absolutely love the name siobhan (I havent seen it spelled the way you spelled it though... the "bh" makes a "v" sound in Irish Gaelic and so does "mh"- like in my name Niamh "nee-av"). Its funny that you say James Douglas because my youngest brothers name is Douglas James lol.

Other well known Irish names. *Finnula - sometimes shortened to Nula. *Brigid or Breda.
PS Another is *Phylan. But terrible if surname is Mycock. And yes it's happened...poor lad.

OHOH, i read a book where the gal was named Heaven Leigh.
That's pretty bad in my book.
Then again, my son's middle name is Donald (family name) which is also pretty bad in my book, haaaa.

Here's an email I received from someone about this Worst Baby Names topic:
Hello, I would like to cast my vote for your "Worst Baby Name" poll. I vote against the names Lexi, Lexus, Alexia etc...I think it sounds too "female warrior-like" and too much like a stripper on a poor little baby. Thanks, and let me know how your poll goes!

Diariah. Yes, I saw this name on a list of kids at a daycare center (my job entailed going through charts daycare centers had made of what meals they had served and to which kids on which days to check them for accuracy). My guess is that it's pronounced something like "dee-AHR-ee-uh"?
I thought maybe it might be a foreign name, so I googled it, and all I got was a bunch of pages where people had misspelled "diarrhea."
That job gave me a list of a LOT of weird names (and a lot I got very sick of by the end of it--there are some names I don't want to see ever again because so many people gave them to their kids), but that one was by far the worst.

i've heard the lemon & orange jello one too many times, I think that's got to be an urban legend.
Of course the same nurse that told me about those also told me about a woman who named her baby Chlamydia - we WERE living in Mississippi at the time....
Seriously, these have GOT to be jokes, right?!? <img src="/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

Everytime I hear the name "Dorcas" i think of Julie Newmar - definitely NOT a geek! She was in the musical "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers" and her character was Dorcas Gailen - I think she was the girl that the 2nd oldest brother (Benjamin) fell in love with. Anyway, it may be an old-fashioned name, but she was drop-dead gorgeous, so I can't help but think of it as a beautiful woman's name.
Oh - worst name, this actually is a friend of mine, and why her parents did this I'll never know: Stormie Knight (she's married now, so it's not so bad anymore.)
