In light of all the hurricane news lately, I've been worrying and wondering about bird migration and how it's affecting them. Hurricanes and other bad weather have been known to blow birds off course and into destinations they've never been seen before.
Someone on another board I frequent has a weather calendar and posted this tidbit today:
"...today in 1960, Hurricane Donna wiped out 40 percent of the white heron population of south Florida"

I wonder when and if we'll ever know the extent of the damage done to species after this recent spate of hurricanes in the south east....
