I've used bamboo double-pointed needles, and for double-points, I liked them. (I'm not a big fan of double-points, so that somewhat colors my judgement). I like that they're warm, and that the more you use them, the smoother they get.

They are wonderful because they do get smoother with use and they are "light", which really helps when your project gets bigger....meaning they won't add to the weight.

I have two pairs of straight bamboo needles, and I like them. If Clover would put out a changable set-- I'd buy themn in a heartbeat.

The majority of my dpns are bamboo. Only problem with bamboo- you don't get them in the smaller needle gauges.

If you do purchase a set, chances are unlikely you will not like them.

I have Clover bamboo DPNs down to size 0. They are nice. My favorite bamboos are Plymouth though. They just seem smoother than the Clover.

I really like them! I just started knitting so I only have 15 circulars and 4 straight.

They are smoother than metal. I'm just always scared I'll break the 4's in my bag.

In all honesty my fear was that they might break as well and one of the reason I posted and asked because I wanted to see if anyone had problems with their needles breaking. I know real bamboo is tough and hard to break but I didn't know how this transferred when they were made into needles.
Everyone has been very helpful and I appreciate the feed back.
Thanks,

(And your needle supply far exceeds mine, stampingfrog. I'm buying them as I find patterns I want to knit.)
