Hi, everyone. I'm the new Drama TV editor and am anxious to get to know everyone.

So, what's your favorite tv drama? The one (or two or three) that you just can't miss?

I'm addicted to "House", "NCIS", "Law & Order", and "Eli Stone" right now. I was sad to see "Jericho" and "Journeyman" canceled as they were previously "not miss" for me.

I still love Grey's Anatomy. I love House too. Pretty much I love doctor shows... I don't know why, considering I want to be a lawyer LOL!

Speaking of doctors though, I saw these great documentaries that were produced by the Phoenix Children's Hospital and tell amazing stories of a few kids they've treated. One particular baby has already had about 13 major surgeries and is only a couple years old. He was born with so many complications, he couldn't even leave the hospital until he was over a year old. If you're interested in seeing these incredible stories of survival, the films are at www.pchhandprints.org.

Ooooh I almost forgot, I also do love Gossip Girl... Is that bad?

Oh, we've so gotta bring this thread back up from the depths of the boneyard... Hands down, my favorite drama on TV is Dexter. I don't care if it's on CBS or Showtime, I still love it. Though, I do think Deb loses a bit of her edgy verbal awesomeness when she's edited. As for new shows, I've become a quick fan of Lie to Me and Fringe this season. And Leverage. And then there's still 24 and House that I can't miss. And Burn Notice. And Big Love. And The Tudors. And... I think I watch too much television. Please tell me I'm not alone in that. ;)
I have never seen Dexter it must be on Showtime. I do like Burn Notice (except for Fiona).
I like Law and Order SVU. I'm trying to think of more drama tv, but it's escaping me at the moment...I look forward to your articles.

Thanks, Dianne. I think by definition most shows fall into the category of drama. (If not, guess I'll find out soon.) ;) They re-ran the first season of Dexter on CBS last fall, but I wasn't a big fan of watching it with with all the commercials. (Showtime had me spoiled...big time!) I'm not Fiona's biggest fan either. I like the character well enough, I just don't particularly like the actress much. I've only watched the occasional ep of SVU here and there, but I'm sure I'll be watching more of them now that I've got a good excuse to watch more tv. :D
The Fiona character is great, you're right it's just something about that actress....

I started watching 24 last week and unfortunately, I'm hooked!!!
I guess I misunderstood the premise of the show when it first came out.
The biggest problem I have with Fiona on Burn Notice is her weight. This is an obviously beautiful woman, but she is nearly emaciated looking!

Now being a large woman, I have my momenst of "Oooo, I hate her and want her body. But that is not the case here. She is muscular (some) but the time when they went to the pool and she was in the bikini my husband and I were both going "Give her some donuts!"

But I love, love, love Bruce Campbell - so he can make up for any anorexic models on the show as far as I'm concerend. And the Mom - she's a hoot!
my "Can't miss" faves are:

Nip/Tuck,
Burn Notice,
The Beast,
Sons of Anarchy (when that starts again)
In Plain Sight.

These are definitely shows that I move Heaven and Earth to watch.

Gabrielle Anwar has always been thin and does something called Yoga Hop to keep in shape. I saw once on a website that she can weigh between 90 pounds and 150 pounds. I agree it wouldn't hurt to find a happy medium in there though lol. She was quite beautiful in "Scent of a Woman" where she danced the tango with Al Pacino in the restaurant.

Don't feel bad, Dianne. This is only my 3rd season watching 24. I loved the first season I watched, was lukewarm about last season, but I'm seriously hooked again this season. I was shouting at the TV that I wanted Jack to pull his gun on President Taylor. I think I've been watching a show for too long when I want a rogue agent to pull a gun on the president. :) I think what I like the most about 24 is you can get into it and enjoy it even if you haven't been with it since the beginning.

You know, I have to agree with you, erm...Spirit? ;) I may not necessarily be a large woman - probably average considering more and more of our country is becoming obese, which I'm technically not - but I'm no 10 pound supermodel either so I get those jealous moments as well. There's just something about her face that bothers me and I can't figure it out. Perhaps if she put on 10 pounds then it might fill out a bit and I'd feel differently. But yeah...the rest of the cast totally makes up for it. I am SERIOUSLY bummed this week is already the season finale. It seems like all the best shows finale sooner and sooner. :(

What's The Beast, Vance? I feel like I've heard of it, but can't quite place it. Has Nip/Tuck gotten any better. I started to lose interested in it the season after the Carver storyline and then I couldn't even bear to watch it the first season it was set in LA. I was really bummed because I really used to enjoy it a great deal. I just realized you've got Crime in your signature. I've got to check it out to see what all you've got going there. I'm one of those crazy people who likes serial killers so...yeah...that came out the wrong way. Let me back up. I find the mind of a serial killer and sociopaths to be fascinating from a psychological standpoint. (And they're a blast to write about in fiction.) Anyway, I regularly find myself watching the Investigation Discovery Channel so I might be right at home over there. :)

Oh, this is probably as good a time as any to mention that I tend to wander in and out of my trains of thought when I'm chatting in forums. (Gotta save the focus for writing, I suppose.) So if you find me roaming around in the field, feel free to nudge me back onto the path. ;)

Really loved Ghost Whisperer DVD and watched from the beginning. I have recently moved and began law school and have not kept on top of episodes. I just watched last week's episode to find Jim gone and the Jim actor playing a Sam character. The Jim/Melinda relationship was a great part of Ghost Whisperer, not many tv shows base around a solid marriage. Also found a new professor, who is not nearly as good. I realize the old actor has his own show now, but the new professor character is just lacking. Will not be watching the show anymore without Jim

I guess I'm a bit of a gothic type, myself. My favorites were Dark Shadows and then Buffy the Vampire Slayer until they brought in Buffy's sister Dawn. (My favorite evil pair were Spike and Drusilla). I also liked the Angel spin off series from that show until they killed off Cordelia.

Lost and Desperate Housewives
Right now I love

Law and Order SVU, Criminal Minds, Lie To Me

My favorite TV drama of all time is Alias
My all time TV drama is none other than Grey's Anatomy!! I am hooked and I just love it. I have watched it since the beginning and I can't miss any episodes or i would flip out. Not only do I love it, but now I got my sweetheart hooked on it as well. We watch the reruns so he can catch up and fill in the blanks. He is hooked as bad as me so it works out well.

The Beast was a weekly series that starred Patrick Swayze as a rogue FBI agent or so was thought. Questions were not answered as the series was only one season long and ended a few months before he died.

Nip Tuck is better and Mario Lopez is on he show now as their new partner/affiliate. Its going to be an interesting season.

Gray's Anatomy sucks. I would rather sit through repeated watchings of Dumb abd Dumber followed by the Three Amigos while sticking a hot poker in my left eye.

Considering you already have a patch over your right eye (obviously a result from watching dumb and dumber)I would not lie to all these nice people. Everyday you come home and the first thing you want to do after my morning kiss is watch Grey's Anatomy. You are like a chic with a beard and mustache. Don't make me jump up and dot your other eye. LMAO

By the by- it is spelled Grey's not Gray as in color. Meredith would be so disappointed in you.
The US show everyone talks about in the UK is The Wire. I haven't seen it but my son is always watching it and it always leads the polls of best TV shows. US shows I loved were
Northern Exposure
Seinfeld
Lost and Desperate Housewives (for the first two years then I got bored)
Curb your Enthusiasm

my favorite Pushing Daisies. It is fantastic serial. Pushing Daisies centers on the life of Ned, a pie-maker gifted with the mysterious ability to bring dead things back to life by touching them. storyline of it is very good.
