While I agree with most things you say, your thoughts about the samurai are wrong. The samurai were, besides being extremely powerful, had elegance and intelligence, which made them some of the worlds most advanced fighters. Had it not been for the innovation of having gun powder used in guns, the samurai would have been the most powerful warriors. They studied poetry, langauge, etiquette, etc., and that's what made them so marvelous in the ways they worked. You don't see an English knight taking down ten samurai in two seconds, as you would see a samuari taking down ten English knights in two seconds. Square is just basing their thoughts off of the samurai, and for good reason. It adds a bit more to Sephiroth's hubris attitude. So, coincidentally, he could be considered a Ronin.
