An artist's impression shows
ESA's ExoMars rover on the surface of Mars. I recently saw a quarter-size model of the rover in an exhibition at the Design Museum in London. I was delighted when they chose to name the rover after the brilliant chemist and x-ray crystallographer Rosalind Franklin. Her work was important - and used without consultation by her colleagues - in discovering the structure of DNA. She was 37 when she died, and her colleagues Watson and Crick became famous and won a Nobel Prize.
