The official selection of films for this year's Cannes Fest will be announced on April 18th. "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood", with Leonardo Dicaprio and Brad Pitt, and "Pain & Glory", with Penelope Cruz and Antonia Banderas, are considered top contenders.
Nadine Labaki, director of prize-winning "Capernaum", will head the Un Certain Regard jury. Claire Denis, whose English-language debut "High Life" (starring Robert Pattinson and Juliette Binoche) opened this weekend, will head the Short Films and Cinefondation jury.
One film title that has been announced is "Deerskin", which will open the Directors' Fortnight section of the festival. Jean Dujardin stars as a man whose obsession with a designer coat leads him to bankruptcy and crime. Alternately described as a comedy and thriller, the film will be released in France on Dujardin's birthday - June 19th.
The Cannes Film Festival runs from May 14th through May 24th, 2019.
