As the Presidential campaign has made clear, almost none of the mainstream-media organs are reliable sources of news these days - the Washington Post and the NYT least of all. Everything they reported during the campaign was slanted in favour of Hillary Clinton - and that is corrupt journalism. As somebody (Trump?) said: MSM reporters aren't journalists any more, they're mere stenographers. There are plenty of bloggers in the "alternative" media who are honest in both their reports and opinions. I wouldn't be recommending subscriptions to WaPo and NYT at this stage of the proceedings! Let's wait and see if they can sort out their acts, first.
Those of us who have lost faith in the honesty of the famous newspapers (US and British, at least) have turned to lesser ones and (occasionally) English-language foreign ones. RT.com, for instance, is probably highly unreliable on Russian domestic politics (it's the equivalent of the WaPo, pretty much - the relevant Establishment's mouthpiece), but it's fairly neutral on international matters.
