Years ago i replaced the faucets and showerhead with low flow aerators, and a few years ago i got a very nice low water toilet with air injection. The next thing i hope to replace will be the washing machine for one that side loads and uses much less water. Another thing i could do, would be to get a rain barrel and use that water to water the plants, and for some washing. If you have a dehumidifier in the summer, you can use that water to water your plants or add to the washer as it is filling.

also for your bathroom sink/toilet you can now get this filtering system that will filter the grey water from your sink and use that water to flush the toilet. The water is toilet sipping animal safe and helps you reuse water that would have been typically wasted. There is something that also does the same thing for your dishwasher and such. I just read about them in the Popular Science from this month.
they had a few other suggestions to lower your enviromental impact as well.
