It is warm and damp today. It didn't rain yesterday until late in the evening and this morning it is soggy and misty. What a strange December. El Nino at play in the Pacific.

Yesterday it was changing and windy.

At night it was windy.

When I went to bed it was windy.

When I got up it was mostly cloudy, a little foggy and snowing.

Angie, the weather has been strange in west Wales too. Today the wind has died down, but it's been gloomy all day. Yet it hasn't rained all that much. The surprising part was that I was out walking without hat or gloves and with my jacket partly open because it was so mild.

Northern England has however been hit by horrible storms. Yorkshire and Lancashire have been the worst in the latest bout. Many people have been evacuated and pictures today shows water nearly waist-high in the city center of York.

Mona, in 2009 my husband and I took a Christmas-New Year's cruise to South America. It was beautiful. On our return though, they had flooding rains in Machu Picho. We missed all that. Today I read in the paper that places we visited were flooded and 100,000 people or ore were evacuated. Even here, people who live near a lake are concerned with rising waters. We have had so much rain.

My broccoli is growing; forsythia is beginning to bloom; bulbs are poking their heads up. The concern is that with warm temperatures, fruit trees will begin to bloom and then we will have a freeze. Normally this might happen in February or March or December. The El Nino is stalled in the Pacific and that is what is causing this freak weather.

Mona, I was just checking the Mirror and see the photos of York. WOW! How horrible for the people who live there.
