I bought a huge supply of Manuela thread (made by Stahl Wolle, Germany) in size 20 and in many colours for crochet and tatting about 6 years ago and I'm running out. It has been, by far, my most treasured brand of thread. I cannot seem to find any anymore and I've heard it's no longer available. Is there another manufacturer of good 6-cord threads in colors around? I can find DMC cordonnet special in white and ecru and that's about it for 6-cord thread unless it's the DMC size 80 tatting/crochet cotton in the small spools. The shoppe here is saying the colours for anything larger are being discontinued by DMC and all they have is pink. It might just break my heart to find that 6-cord crochet cottons are no longer available in colours in the larger sizes. I never cared much for the 3-cord threads as the 6-cord threads had a much better quality. I suppose buying white and dying it is an option (and i've done it) but various dye colours are also hard to come by for the average person here and dying after the initial manufacture seems to degrade the quality of the thread. I'm pretty sure that if I can give a name of a manufacturer to the local shoppe they can order it. The shoppe here has to be the best in the area if not in the whole state.

Try the Thread Garden. They still seem to carry this.

According to hhtatting: "We can no longer get Manuela in the US as it is now made in a third world country that requires a Visa Quota, so now we cannot bring it in. The thread that is replacing Manuela is made for another German company is Hakelgran. It is the same quality as the Manuela and we expect to have the white in stock in about 2 weeks. It is not on the website yet but it is in the new 2005 tatting catalog. If you do not have our catalog then please go online at www.hhtatting.com click catalog request."

I've gotten Manuela yarn from www.lonestaryarns.com (5 balls arrived yesterday), jkneedles, thethreadstore, snowgoose, and needlepointjoing in the past (just add www.---.com), but I don't know if it's still available from any of those places.
